Following people into the bathroom

Suppose you see someone of the opposite sex you have been trying to talk to for awhile and they haven't made any effort to return your calls or get back to you. Unfortunately when you see them they happen to be headed for the bathroom and you really need to talk to them. Would you follow that person and talk to them inside the bathroom or would you wait for them knowing you might not track them down?

Follow the other person into the bathroom and confront them there.

Wait for the person outside the bathroom and talk to them when they get out.

Just to clarify, I wasn't asking this in regards to a situation I was in. I was watching a TV show a while ago and in the show a female worker followed her male coworker into the bathroom to talk because he had been avoiding her.

That made me curious as to how much that happens in the real world, which is why I was asking the question. So in answering this question, suppose the person you that was avoiding you was someone that had some information you needed to finish a report.

Hahaha, thanks for the laugh. Seriously, that is just odd; don't do that. It makes you seem not only desperate, but creepy and potentially dangerous. If some guy followed me to the bathroom, I sure as heck am not going to listen to him; I'll probably be reaching for my fork in anticipation of attack, et. al. I wouldn't even suggest waiting outside the bathroom because that is also a little desperate. If this person is not responding to your calls and whatnot, I think it's best to move on. Why bother with a flake? Of course I don't know the whole situation, but that is something you might want to think about.

If it makes you feel any better, I would never do it myself. The reason I was asking was because I saw a TV show a while back and in the episode a female worker followed her male co-worker into the bathroom and I then wondered how much that happens in real life. If it were a dating situation then leaving them alone makes sense but suppose it were a situation where you needed information from them to finish a report and they were avoiding you? How would you deal with that?

I would still not follow him to the bathroom. I might wait for him outside the bathroom if there is really no other way. But if I needed information from him to finish a report, I'm going to assume that we are either co-workers or classmates...in which case I would probably see him at work or in class. Really, it's not plausible that the bathroom is the only way to meet him...so, I would say that the chances of this happening in real life are pretty slim.

I would find it so disturbing if a guy followed me to the bathroom, so there's no way I would do that to someone else. If I knew they were there and I really needed to talk to them, I would just make sure to look around and find them. Hell, you can just keep an eye on the bathroom from a distance, wait for them to come out, and then go talk to them after they've moved to some other location. But following someone to the bathroom when you haven't been invited is not a good idea.

I agree with you there, if I ever found myself in that situation I would position myself somewhere that they can't avoid me when they come out of the bathroom. I would never go into a bathroom of the opposite sex and I would hope no woman would ever follow me in there and try to talk to me at the urinal. I happened to see a few minutes of a TV show or movie where a woman did that and so I wondered how much it actually happens in the real world.

I would NEVER follow someone into the restroom. its disgusting and vile. and I would hurt someone if they followed me into the bathroom. -shivers- I had to get someone to kick @$$ for me once cause a guy was following me around. after I threatened to call the cops on him, he left. but reallyyyyyyyyyyy creepy...

I would agree and of course I would never do it myself. I was just curious as to how many people would after seeing a TV show where a woman followed a man into the restroom at work because she needed some important information from him and he was avoiding her.

The old Romans had collective toilets were people did it all together. Here's a picture: link in Ostia Antica (Army field latrines weren't much different in my time, just more primitive . :-P)

I doubt if they were mixed, but it's possible: the "shame and guilt culture didn't really develop until the Victorian 19th century: during the Middle Ages men and women went naked in the same public bath, and a guest was offered to share the bed with his hosts.

This is by far the weirdest question I've seen in quite some time. If a person is ignoring you, it's best to let them be and not push it any further. I assume your talking about a girlfriend or wife. If it's at your own apartment, do wait outside. Women like their privacy. If it's in public, she could seriously call the cops on you, or a passerby would.

I am actually not talking about a real life situation involving myself. I am asking more in the context of the other person having something really important you need as soon as possible for work or school and they have been avoiding you. If you're wondering where the question came from, I was watching some TV show or movie (I forget exactly which one) and a female followed her male coworker into the bathroom in that type of situation. If I needed to talk to them then I would follow them into the bathroom-i think that's the perfect place because it's out of the way and more private. But if they hadn't been returning my calls I would avoid them.

Now say it's a public men's bathroom, would you still consider that the perfect place to talk to them? I should mention that with my question I'm not just talking about dating but other situations where the person avoiding you might have something you desperately need right away to get what you need done, such as critical information you need to finish a report that's due in an hour.

Hell no. They haven't returned call or got back to you. It's called taking a hint. They apparently don't want to talk to you, why follow them or wait for them anywhere? You're wasting your time.

That's what I've heard, but that wasn't what I was trying to get at. I was trying to find out how everyone would handle a situation where they see someone that has been avoiding them headed for the bathroom. That person has something they need right away like crucial information needed to finish a report that's due in an hour.
