I 100% agree although there are some exceptions. A defective thyroid or a really shitty metabolism can make it impossible to lose weight. I have a friend who has been fat all his life, but he's a hard core rugby player and practically lives off of salads and carrots.

Trying to shame someone into doing something or acknowledge a problem NEVER WORKS, nor is it productive or respectful. All it does is give mean people a reason to be judgmental, and it only creates resentment between people. If you aren't going to be supportive and helpful, then keep your mouth shut. You aren't f-ing perfect (to everyone, not just the person who wrote this)

I don't blame her boyfriend for leaving her for a heavier chick either since the woman most likely has a nicer personality. Chunky w/ nice personality > skinny chick w/ the personality of a bitch with rabies. Have you seen her other comments? It's ridiculous.

Yeah there's a difference between fatshaming and showing concern. Leave it to close caring loved ones to show concern for an overweight person, not someone like you that thinks it's easy when it's not. Losing weight, especially large amounts it's extremely difficult, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. And many times, being overweight does have to do with genetics and/or an emotional issue. FatshaMing iswrong because it's judgmental and many times people want to lose weight but don't have to do so. Bullying isn't gonna help, it will only make it worse.

    It's called respect.
Learn it, live it, love it.

You shouldn't make fun of anyone.
Making fun of people only hurts them. Nothing good comes out of it. Some things you should keep to yourself.

Telling people to stop killing themselves isn't making fun of them. Learn the difference.

Shame is something to be reserved for someone doing bad. They're not hurting anyone, so shaming them for being fat is just you being an asshole. You're not doing it to help them you're just making yourself feel better about whatever.

That aside... the grand majority of fat people that lose the weight do so because of some outside negatively from the people around them. Family, friends, opposite sex. Whoever.

I get where you are coming from and I agree with most of it and that you should sometimes tell people the harsh, hurtful truth, but I also think it should be done within means and consideration.

Additionally I am also sick of using the excuse "muh genetics". At least have the least bit of self-respect to stand up for your own overweight.

      Or to make it simple:

"You are such a fat, ugly slob" = While it might be true, that is bullying and fat-shaming.

"Hey, I really think you should reconsider your diet choice, because you already have some pounds too much" = Not fat-shaming and perfectly fine critcism.

Of all the things that can cause people to find you unattractive, bsing fat is...

    1. for the most part within your power to change
    2. at least partially caused by your choices

I have more sympathy for people who are bullied for being too skinny, too short, too tall, having bad acne, or bad bone structure. Things you have no control over.

I don't think they should be bullied but I'm tired of people pushing this "fat is beautiful" bullshit

But it's not fucking necessary to call them fat all the time. Like they don't know they're fat, this is the first time they hear about it.

Nobody has ever accused a doctor of fat shaming them. Fat shaming doesn't help fat people lose weight- how many overweight kids are bullied? Do all of them immediately start making healthier decisions? No. If they do change instead of just becoming miserable because of all the greif they get, it often just escalates in an unhealthy way.

    To contine with @Noxifer626 (point 4) -

Fat can be unhealthy but so can attempting to reduce people's value to their sexual attractiveness (disguised as "health" - we don't shame lazy unhealthy skinny people...) and then belittling them for not measuring up, pardon the puns.

Fat shaming is stupid. Why do people give a shit what others do with their bodies? If you're close with someone who is unhealthy then encourage them in other days to improve themselves by being the example. Shaming works on no one. Shaming is cruel no matter what it's about.

I used to think this way too but there is a problem in this approach.
I realize what you are trying to say is that people tend to hide behind the fat shaming argument to the point they don't want to be accountable for their own body Which is True!
But there are also people who are genuinely trying , and by shaming them you are practically discouraging them from trying further.
Imagine if someone calls you something that you are insecure about all the time. Kills the vibe right?

You know, I'm starting to think to that people like you must be really fucking bored, because I don't understand how you can care that much about SOMEONE ELSE'S health. Like who cares? It doesn't affect you whatsoever & I personally have way too much of an interesting life to even notice fat people.

    Smoke a blunt or something.

I fully support This! fat people need to stop making excuses and start doing what is best for them, and being fat or obiesty gives high risk of heart problem and diabeties.

I myself was fat used to be 145 lbs and now currently 110 lbs, im better, healthier and more active and ofcoure happier...

And people should remember Never loose weight to look good but to be healthy.
