So, as I sit here with a cold I just came down with yesterday, I thought I’d post my thoughts on how I deal with the blasted cold. After all, unless you are a very different type of person, more than likely having a cold is the absolutely pits! If you do happen to like the aches and pains of the common cold, more power to you! For everyone else, here is MyTake on minimizing everything from body aches to having a runny nose that comes from having a cold.
(Side note: due to my cold, this may not be my BEST writing, but I’ll try).
Zinc Lozenges
Now I prefer the all-natural variety, but any lozenge that has zinc to expedite the recuperating process the better. That and for me, the all-natural variety doesn’t have any chemicals in it or even any sugar, aside from brown rice syrup. Health.com says that taking zinc within the first 24 hours from when you start feeling miserable, can help shorten your sinus and cold symptoms.

The article goes on to say that significant effects are reported when taking at least 75mg (more than a few zinc lozenges per day), while the cold lasts. Which might explain why the 5mg zinc lozenges I take, start to make me feel better after I’ve taken several over the course of a few hours.
Liquids!

Your body needs that H2O to recuperate and revitalize, after all when you have a cold your nose is probably draining like a faucet so you need to drink plenty of fluids to replenish yourself.
Kleenex/tissues
This seemed like the best follow-up, after all if your nose is draining like a faucet, you need those Kleenex near-by. Unless of course you use Dayquil or Nyquil to help keep your nose from running and the aches and pains away.

Dayquil/Nyquil
Now for myself, Dayquil and Nyquil unfortunately don’t always agree with my stomach, for everyone else it can certainly make your day or night better.

Vitamin C
Alright, so I probably should have fit this somewhere between the Zinc Lozenges and tissue, because Vitamin C is absolutely important to help you get back up on your feet. Now according to Webmd. Vitamin C is more of a preventative measure, before getting a cold, due to its antioxidants to keep the body healthy.

Still though, after drinking orange juice or eating a grapefruit or orange while having a cold, I do feel noticeable less miserable. Not enough to go run a marathon of course, but still better than before having the Vitamin C fruit/juice.

Turkey/Chicken broth
Aside from tasting good, the hot broth soup helps to break up congestion. Whereas the salt in the broth (even all-natural broth has natural sodium/salt in it), that can warm and soothe your throat. According to an article on CBSnews, research shows that clear broth such as chicken or turkey can help reduce inflammation caused by colds and flu.

Ginger ale/ginger tea
As long as it’s real ginger and not just ginger flavoring, the ginger helps to settle your stomach, reduce stuffy sinuses, and elevate coughing. According to livestong.com Ginger reduces swelling and soothes (similar to the broth) inflamed tissues in your sinuses and throat. Even if you don’t like ginger, simply sipping it or adding a little bit of honey to it and sipping the ale or tea will help. Honey itself can also help in the soothing process.

Dress Warm
Sweat pants, jeans, leggings or long-johns under sweat pants or jeans. As well as turtle neck, sweatshirt, sweater and on top of that if you want a coat and blanket. Whatever clothing works for you, just bundle up. If you feel a chill or start shivering, add more layers. If you start to feel uncomfortably warm, remove a single layer at a time, until you feel comfortably warm. This way your body can fight the cold. Just stay bundled up.

Rest
You're body needs to fight off the cold, so if you aren't working it's best to get rest.
I think that covers everything, at least everything that I’m using currently during my cold. Have some suggestions to add, comment away!
