We are talking about it right now. Just because CNN or other news outlets don't have a story about it doesn't mean that we can't tell a friend who tells a friend, which leads to more and more people knowing about it.
It's true. Governments run off of cold, calculating logic. You think countries would not get involved in an approximately 700 billion dollar industry because it damages the consumers? Every government on this planet functions the same way.
Great post! It's refreshing to hear this topic come out in the open. The statistics presented in this article are scary and something needs to be done. How many people need to die from this addiction before something is done?
What is to be done? It is already illegal just about everywhere. You can't protect everyone from their own poor decisions. I know a couple people who died of overdoses. It tends to ebb and flow in popularity, but it has been a problem for decades.
More media attention and people awareness would help @zagor Most people don't think it can happen if they live a good life and have a good education. They live in a nice neighborhood so they don't think about street drugs. People need to know that this and other very bad drugs are everywhere and effect people from all walks of life
One of the guys came from a well-off family. His first OD was when he was 19 - his dad kicked down his bedroom door when he didn't respond and got him to the hospital in time. But a few years later he wasn't so lucky. And he grew up in Hillsborough, one of the most expensive 'burbs in the SF Bay Area.
My brother was the third of my siblings. He is 8 years my junior. And my parents were in a much better position in life so they were able to give him all the things he wanted. He was great at sports, was popular, got good grades. And still something was missing in him that he felt he needed to fill.
I am sorry about your friend.
I have never tried those stuff or anything similar to that and never thinking to go on that road ever.

My friend is a heroin addict. It was sad. She actually started prostution for money. I haven't spoken to her in almost a year. Her mom moved her somewhere else. I don't know is addicted tho. She had a very terrible past. Her addiction was bad
I also had a laxative, alcohol and sleeping pill addiction

I think deep down, it is simple curiosity that starts it, then it turns into a monster we can't contain anymore. He was doing it for a year before anyone had a clue.

All kinds of young people here dying of overdoses.
Here too. Its very sad because most people don't understand opioid addiction. Its looked on very negatively and those who suffer from it are the addicts. Its hard for them to find places to help them get clean and then help them stay clean. My brother just hit 5 years sober and I am very proud of him.
