+1 yGirls at the gym dress like they have no respect for themselves?
Not in my opinion though I don't use a person's clothing to base whether that person has respect for themselves. If that were the case then I would focus more on guys at the gym as I find guys often go shirtless and I would imagine being half-nude more of an issue than booty shorts.
Do they go to the gym to get more fit?
Possibly as I find most workout clothing for gals reveal skin and I find most gals that workout use feeling sexy as motivation.
Or to look provocative and get a halfass workout in?
Also a possibility as again I find many gals use feeling sexy as a motivation and I also find most gals do not really know how to workout to the best of their ability.
WHY DO THESE YOUNG GIRLS DO THIS TO THEMSELVES?
Likely because I find many gals are deluded to how many guys have malicious intent instead think most guys are nice/good.
Egh this a bit victim-blaming to me as it seemingly suggests that by wearing what you consider 'provocative' gals are themselves becoming rape, kidnapping, and stalking victims. I've yet to see any credible factual evidence stating that gals wearing provocative clothing leads to rape, kidnapping, or stalking.
Also a possibility.40 Reply

+1 yI'm not trying to sound rude here either but,
Why can't they wear what the want to without worrying about being raped, kidnapped, or stalked? Why can't they just go to the gym to do their own workout in what they feel comfortable in?
I get that seeing a girl in provocative clothing can be distracting but does that mean you should shame her, mock her, or threaten her?
Maybe that's just what they want to wear.
Why do men wear shirts that show off their arms? Why do they go running without a shirt on? Why do they go swimming in tiny swimsuits?
It's what they want to wear.1010 Reply- +1 y
Thank you for your comment. I understand it can be distracting but the woman should be able to wear what she wants to wear. It's the gym for pity's sake. It's going to get hot and sweaty. She should be able to wear whatever makes her comfortable.
- +1 y
Also if someone could explain why I have some down votes, I would appreciate it. I'm not trying to offend or start an argument or anything, I'd just like to know other people's opinions.

Girls can do whatever they want. I just don't wanna see a girl have to go through something horrible first, then change how they dress
- +1 y
Oh, I see your point. But I also think that the woman should not even have to go through anything horrible based on how she dresses too. Just because a woman is dressed a certain way doesn't mean she deserves to have anything horrible like that happen to her in the first place. Thank you for your opinion also.
- +1 y
I agree, nothing along the lines of rape should have to happen to anyone for them to change. But the truth is, it happens. I just want to help prevent it. Maybe i'm not doing a good job by posting this opinion/question in such a way
- +1 y
Right and I understand you have good intentions. I just believe that rape is not the victim's fault and from your question it seemed like you think that women are allowing themselves to have bad things happen to them: " Especially in front of random guys full of test that could be rapists, kidnappers, stalkers, etc. WHY DO THESE YOUNG GIRLS DO THIS TO THEMSELVES? " That line got to me especially because as a young woman I do feel threatened sometimes. I carry pepper spray. I stay in groups. I do what I'm told to do so that I don't have something bad happen to me and I'm sure many other women do too. I think that women should not be afraid to wear what they want when they go supposedly safe places like the gym because of the fear that somebody will try to hurt them.
- +1 y
I put "WHY DO THESE YOUNG GIRLS..." to grab the attention of readers. I admire that you take precautions for your own safety and i am sorry if i offended you, or many other readers. I totally agree that women should not have to worry about being in danger if they just go to a public place like a gym. Maybe the real question is why do people do violent crimes against one another. Thanks for your input and help on the topic. Much appreciated:)

Seriously best comment so far, *gives a high five*
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yBecause that's what they like working out in. I certainly wouldn't wear long pants to the gym, I'll wear shorts. And most of women's clothing is made skimpy like that.
Sometimes I'll wear a baggy t-shirt but depending on my work out the extra material might get in the way, so sometimes it's just easier to wear something tighter. And I'm going to get hot and sweaty, so I prefer to wear a thinner material so my body can breathe.
I've seen guys take their shirts off at the gym... do they have no respect for themselves?68 Reply- +1 y
It's not the same comparing a guy's body with a girl's. Otherwise we would have bikini tops to cover our nipples, which we don't
Opinion Owner+1 y@Theguyoverthere said "we can say the same thing for guys wearing tanks and shorts" and you responded to him "well said"... I'm saying the exact same thing he is saying. He gave a great answer: he explained why someone would wear revealing clothes to the gym (to see results), said that no one should be staring at them, and said that even if some rapist tries something then he will be stopped.
- +1 y
Yes. I agree and admire that people wear clothes to benefit their workout. Like you said, "that's what they like working out in." Also to see results, i totally agree. So i'm sorry if i responded or disrespected you in any way.
- +1 y
I just don't like the extreme of butt cheeks hanging out while doing the stairclimber type of things:/
Opinion Owner+1 yit's okay, thanks for apologizing. Yeah I can understand how that's frustrating, and I certainly wouldn't want my butt cheeks to be hanging out, but that's how a lot of girls clothes are made. I go shopping for gym shorts and most of them are super short and the material rides up when I use those kinds of machines. Sometimes I wear guys' gym shorts because they aren't so short but then they're super loose and the baggy material can get in the way too.
- +1 y
Well using your logic why aren't guys wearing tight stuff? Women do it to attract hot guys but the average guys that stare are creepy.
Opinion Owner+1 y@Kingsfan05 if you read the rest of what I wrote you will see my explanations of different reasons why girls would wear those. Yes, I'm sure some girls do it to attract the guys, just like there are guys who purposefully wear tanks or take their shirts off to impress the ladies. Why can't those guys just wear a t-shirt?
I'm not trying to attack all men, I'm just using that as an example of why you can't assume that all women are just looking for attention.- +1 y
Those douches should throw a shirt on
+1 yA girl can wear whatever she wants to a gym. The fact that you find it too revealing is your problem not theirs. They aren't doing anything to themselves, it's your mind that in the gutter not theirs. To suggest they should cover up just in case a rapist is around is ridiculous. Sorry if it sounds pushy or rude but when you place blame on innocent people for living their lives how they choose you open yourself up to replies like this. I don't usually reply to this kind of nonsense but your post is so judgmental.
107 Reply- +1 y
Yeah your right. A girl can wear and do whatever she pleases in the gym as long as it doesn't affect the people around her. Guy's can deal with it. But just because you feel the most comfortable in the clothing you choose to workout in, doesn't mean it's appropriate for the environment as a whole
- +1 y
If it's within the law it's her right to choose what she's wearing. The reasons why she chooses it is nobody's business but hers, and if people have an issue with it it's their issue not hers. Just my opinion.
- +1 y
I guess it all just depends on their own personal standards of what is ok, and what isn't.
- +1 y
Sky, they may do it on purpose but that is their prerogative. You might not like to see what some choose to wear and you're entitled to your opinion, but you nor anyone else has the right to choose what they wear if it's within the gym rules.
- +1 y
Very curious so would it be fine if I showed up at the gym with a speedo, and a very revealing string tank top. Then if I catch you looking at me would it be ok to give you an earful about how you are making me feel uncomfortable?
P. S. this has never happened to me because I work out at home. Since I try to avoid distractions from ladies that are within their right to wear what ever they want.

+1 yHonestly, I see nothing wrong with it at a gym because you can focus on your results of your body. Gym staff are responsible for watching out for harassing behavior.
The most a guy will do is hit on a girl. If he's dumb enough to try to rape a girl in a gym he'll fail miserably and just get arrested. If anything, society in general tends to protect women more than anything. So even if a guy tried raping a girl in a gym, all those other test-filled muscleheads would beat the hell out of him before he even pulled her pants down.
We could say the same for guys wearing tanks and shorts if we really wanted to as well. A gym is the place where they can go for them and no one else. People actually say "Save that outfit for the gym" when it comes to revealing clothes. People wear sleeveless shirts to see their arms growing, or shorts so they can see if their "pencil legs" got any bigger, and so on. Plus, there's plenty of gym etiquette rules anyway. Staring in general is just rude.
Granted there are many women who want to be looked at in such a manner. If it makes them happy, so be it.31 Reply- +1 y
Well said
I highly doubt the gym's full of stalkers and rapists... just guys enjoying the view. I see women of all ages wearing tight gym pants, and I'm sure it's for multiple reasons. I've seen old ladies at the gym wearing yoga pants, and I'm sure they don't even have the ability or desire to tempt any guys at all (especially when there are a lot younger hotter women at the same gym).
I'm the last guy to complain about what they're gonna be wearing. But when they wear an outfit about the size of bras and panties, with their boobs and butts popping out it seems kind of tasteless, and impractical.
But girls aren't the only people who go overboard at the gym. I see guys at the gym wearing cutoff shirts with only about an inch or two of fabric, with their nipples popping out of either side, and they look like complete douche-tools.50 Reply

310 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I'd say they just dress like they don't care. I wear things to the gym I wouldn't wear elsewhere. Like lowcut shirts, the sports bra covers everything anyways. Worn out yoga pants that may be a bit see through. Shorts that don't fit well anymore.
A lot of girls take classes like yoga or zumba, that always 90% to 100% female, so why bother
I don't know what your point is sure there may be rapist there but whether you get raped or not doesn't depend on what you wear.
What do you say to gyms that have a pool then?39 Reply- +1 y
So if a rapist is staring at your short shorts in the gym, it's up to them if they wanna make a move right? Your still provoking it. Just because you do have the right to wear whatever you want to make yourself comfortable does not mean it doesn't affect others around you
- +1 y
ok you're one of those people who think, despite all evidence, that if a girl dresses a certain way she is more likley to get raped, possibly "asked for it". I'm not.
It's the fucking gym, you wear clothes you can comfortably work out in. No one judges those guys who wear tank tops so short you can see their 6 pack. Not that I'm complaining - +1 y
Yes this is a topic that could go back and forth. So at the end of the day. Keep doing whatever you want nobody is stopping you. Just be aware of others around you
- +1 y
No one would want to hit on me when working out anyways. I look like this transformationcheatsheet.com/.../...out-boxing.jpg not this healthyceleb.com/.../Adriana-Lima-Workout-Gear.jpg when I work out
- +1 y
Lolll! I admire your look of passion to kick some butt!
Probably because people tend to get hot when the work out and having sweaty clothes stick to your body is gross. Also no matter what anyone wears it doesn't warrent stalking, kidnapping, or rape. If a person is plan in on stalking, raping, or kidnapping they're going to do it wether the woman is naked or dressed like a nun. If clothes protected anyone from getting raped or kidnapped then women would never be raped or kidnapped. Statistically women who dress conservitive are more likely to get raped because it is assumed they'll put up less of a fight.
22 Reply- +1 y
Where'd you read that last part? That's crazy.
- +1 y
Simple internet search facts about rape. Women who wear buns/ponytails are also more likely to be attacked because their hairstyle gives the rapist something to hold on too. Though women are less likely to be raped by a stranger. Most rapes occur because the woman feels safe/comfortable around a man that she trusts, and the rapists use that trust/comfort to rape them. Meaning a woman if more likely to be raped by a family member, friend, or coworker, than a stranger.
609 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I didn't know clothes are related to a womans self respect. I'm not sure why what they wear bothers you either.
I don't know exactly why but the reason will vary depending on the girl. Maybe they want to feel attractive or look good. Maybe they like how the clothes keep them cool and help with sweat.
I'm interested in why this is so important to you though.56 Reply- +1 y
It's the handful of girls that wear shorts high that everyone can see their butt cheeks. I mean, come one it's a gym to exercise, not show your ass to everyone
- +1 y
I think every time i go i see an ass either through yoga pants or short shorts. I like it actually. But some people may have other intentions
- +1 y
Ok. Thanks for the input
+1 yMaybe they are finally proud of their bodies, and feel that they want to show it off a little more, idk. Some might do it for attention, but others might just wear stuff like that because it might just be more comfortable for them to work out in. I work out in shorts and a tank top a lot because it gets extremely hot sometimes, and it's just more comfortable.
41 Reply- +1 y
Hmm that makes sense
+1 yGirls can wear whatever the fuck they want, and still have self respect. You're the one who doesn't have self respect. Do you really think men are that simple minded to the point where they can't control themselves if they see some leg or bum? Seriously?
Your thinking is the problem. Not their outfits. Mother of god.41 Reply- +1 y
You sound shocked that people have legs and bums? Don't over sexualize the human body. It's just a body. Everyone has one. And people are comfortable in different things. Deal with it.
Usually girls like this want attention. And think they'll pick up lots of guys. For me when I go out wearing my tights I do make sure they aren't see through. As for shirts I have bigger boobs so sometimes it's hard to hide them. But some girls just wanna show there body off in purpose. They think there sexy doing this but yeah
62 Reply- +1 y
They have no right to cause a distraction at the gym
I wear clothing like that because I get hot while I run. I sweat a lot and working out in a regular tshirt is very uncomfortable, so I wear tank tops that wick the sweat off your body. I wear spandex because I hate nike running shorts and I don't wear pants when I work out, because of sweat and getting too hot.
45 Reply- +1 y
This is a very good answer. I agree that you don't want to be sweating like crazy in pants and some shorts/shirts don't feel well while working out.
- +1 y
True true. And your clarification has shown me a little bit more as to why people dress the way they do at the gym:)
- +1 y
Guys don't dress like that and they are working out
If I ever go to a local gym I just wear trackie bottoms and a t shirt. Even when I'm practicing gymnastics I prefer to wear cropped leggings (not yoga pants) and a t shirt. There really isn't any need to show everything off to exercise, I think some women do just like the attention and knowing that guys are going to look. You're not being rude, I agree with you :) You go to the gym to workout and put the effort in and you can be modest and comfortable at the same time :)
32 Reply- +1 y
I know right? I see a handful of girls at every gym just going to wear their booty shorts and barely break a sweat. It just doesn't make any sense to me! Haha
- +1 y
Good answer. :)
No I understand, you're kind of right. I wonder the same thing about some of those girls. Some really don't dress for working out, and yes, it's true some girls do go to the gym just to try to pick up guys. I know this because they'll make a show of trying to workout near you hoping you'll notice, and they usually don't come back anymore.

With yoga pants they are what they are; if you see anything and most likely you do, its not intentional, they stretch as you stretch. That's why they are so comfortable30 Reply
+1 yI kind of wonder about this too. I'll stumble across pics on instagram of girls wearing tight cat suites or something with a face full of caked on makeup to the gym

I've known girls like these. You can't really workout in booty shorts, let's be honest here. They're attention whores, I'd say.72 Reply- +1 y
I couldn't agree with you more, and they only want attractive men to stare but I'm average and I'm going to look
- +1 y
Everyone is going to look, and most of the people are also going to judge them.
+1 yGirls do it to keep up with the competition. If they refuse to dress as revealing as the others, guess what? Guys will be going after other women.
My only issue:
Don't wear yoga pants/shorts, coochie cutters, and revealing tops and get angry that men are looking at you sexually. For the record, those girls aren't my type, I'm merely speaking objectively.13 Reply- +1 y
I agree. I guess it could also be the same for men how we want "big" muscles
- +1 y
Well, men are actually frowned upon for showing their muscles. Like at my job there's a ripped guy but everyone says stuff about him for wearing tight shirts. Like it isn't the same as a girl wearing yoga pants.
- +1 y
They get mad at me all the time for looking, but the fit guy stares and gets a smile back
Anonymous(30-35)+1 yOne reason I can't go to gym now is that reason. I used to live in a place where there was ladies' sport clubs and gyms. So I could wear my normal sporty outfit. But where I live now, there is no such thing. I am worried if I went to a gym here, guys would check me out... although my outfit isn't tight or revealing.. it just has very short sleeves.
03 Reply- +1 y
Yep i agree. Everybody in the gym notices each other no matter what you wear.
Opinion Owner+1 yThen, what can I do in that case? I walk outside in an empty park or work out at home, but I don't feel it does anything to me. Maybe because I am used to heavy exercises at my previous gym.
- +1 y
I guess it just depends on the people at the gym. I know of some private gyms that the people who go are strictly there for the workout and could care less about anyone else there. But it is a pretty small place with only a handful of clients
Hay Dan!! ;-) I'm a gym sportish-hockey chick!! And I wear shorts and thights, when I work out, I do it for the excersize, so let me tel you Ladie that wear revealing clothes are not ther for the workout, thightness and the length of all my clothes I wear are there to make my workout easier.. And my ass hanging out is no part of the excersize!!
11 Reply- +1 y
Hi Robin! That's good! I admire that you wear clothes to give you the most optimal workout. But does it not make you even just a little uncomfortable if your ass is hangin out and people are behind you walking by?
LOL how can you possibly determine whether a girl has self respect based on what she wears? That makes no sense to me
45 Reply- +1 y
Yes your'e right. But do some girls not notice when they're squatting/leg exercises that their underwear is hangin out? I guess they want their workout and that's all that matters to some
- +1 y
i wonder that too sometimes. I judge people like that too sometimes but then I give my head a shake and say "Hey! I don't need to judge. It doesn't affect me and I don't need to be a shitty person and assume since I have no idea". And I realize that everyone is does different things for different reasons

It is the same thing. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander. If men don't want women walking around half naked, then they should learn to put some damn clothes on, instead of walking around with their nipples out all the time. If you aren't going to complain about men with their/pecks/manboobs/speedos flopping around, you have no right to complain about a woman exercising in a sports bra and shorts.
They're at the gym to stay or get in shape. Quite frankly my dear, they don't give a damn.

It might not be their fault because pervs are pervs but for there are sleezy guys who will hit on them. That's a consequence. Also the wrong clothes simply show lack of respect for themselves. I get what you're saying. I've been raped. I didn't wear skimpy clothes but even if I had it wwouldn't have been my fault. But their are other consequences besides illegal ones. It might damage self esteem because other women can be catty.
