Being a great goalkeeper comes down to having great instincts on being able to anticipate your opponents move. Part of the instincts comes down to recognizing body behavior patterns when kicking the ball a certain way or a certain direction. Noticing the angles of their hips, the placement of their plant leg, the torque of their upper body.

If they're in the box attacking, you come closer to them. The closer you get to them, the more of the goal you cover.
