When I get sad or really angry or stressed I tend to distance yself from people. I don't stop talking to them, I just give short replies. I don't want to make conversation, but I really don't want to be alone, and when someone notices my sour mood and stops talking to give me "alone time" I just end up feeling even worse. Does this make any sense at all?
Totally! Being in a good healthy relationship gives us this... a good partner should recognize our moods and should be able to give us emotional space, while also giving us emotional support.. by saying nothing but still loving us. Being single often removes this support.. but that's what good close friends are for!

Yes it does, it doesn't mean that because you're alone that you aren't 'alone'
I have family, friends, but I like to be alone too
it makes sense, I get you. I like to be on my own too
