I've been on my period for 3 weeks, any tips to stop it?

#help it's heavy and I've large clots I just want it to stop. I'm going to die. Seriously any tips I've been to the doctor she gave me birth control and said take it when it stops. But it hasn't stopped.

The only thing that helps lighten it really well or slow it down usually are medications like advil because of its anti-inflammatory properties. That sounds similar to what I have. I have menorrhagia. I would have periods that lasted 30-40 days then I'd have a break for maybe 3-5 days and then another 30-40 with bleeding. Birth control works. I'd say if the bleeding doesn't stop soon, consider just starting the birth control. Have your cycles always been normal aside from this?

I usually had LaRue periods and skipped some. Very irregular

I'd say then try starting the birth control. It'll help with the bleeding especially for someone with irregular periods because its tough to know where you are in a cycle if you are bleeding so much. If you're worried about it, talk to you doctor and you can get a referral to an OBGYN if you aren't already seeing one. How large are the clots?

Go to the gynecologist. Your estrogen levels might be too high or something more serious. It's usually an estrogen imbalance.

I think you should go back to the doctor. A 3 week period can't be very good for your body

My sister had this issue and had to be put on birth control and it helped her
