Getting braces off?

I got my braces last June or it may have early July. They first said I would need them for 18 months but last month when I saw the doctor he said once my space closes we will be done. The space is almost gone but my parents said they are already paying for the 18 months so they would have to leave them on for that long is this true?

Well initially I think you pay for them up front (usually) however I think your parents are just saying they paid that total for the amount of time so they will stay in, its okay I know you're in a hurry to get them off but having them on longer will only be better in the long run! I had mine for about 19 months when I should've had them for about 23-24 and I didn't wear my retainer that much (you get a permanent one) but they want you to wear the removable one too and my teeth shifted.

I think they are still paying for them. The doctor said he was going to put something on the back of my 2 front teeth so the gap wouldn't come back and so I don't have to wear my retainer forever.

It should be removed once it's job is done. If it's earlier than 18 months, then so much the better. Leaving it on, just because it's been paid, for could cause some new damage.

Thats what I was thinking. I also wanted to get them off because I will be a senior and didn't want to have to take pictures with them.

Just be guided by the people who fittd the brace. They know best.
