I'm 23 and getting braces. Is that a turn off?

Hey ladies. I've been putting off getting braces for years and now I'm finally coming around to getting them done to fix my teeth. what's your opinion on guys with braces? Will I have to start wrestling bears bare handed to regain my manliness?

Lets replace manliness with attractiveness. Someone already mentioned braces would make them think twice about a stranger if he flashed some metallic bling on his teeth. I also probably won't have an option of getting the invisible kind as my tricare insurance will be paying for it and military dentists don't really care much for aesthetics.

I wouldn't dismiss you but to me attractiveness does go down a bit but if you're the type of guy to keep your appearance in tact then for sure you'll still attract the ladies. At the end of the day your smile will end up being even more perfect than before and that lasts forever compared to a couple of one hit wonders.

But think about it like this... what would you think if you ran into a 23 year old female who was attractive but wore braces?

If I saw an attractive woman who suddenly smiled and showed a mouth full of braces I think it would be really cute. It's a woman's imperfections that make them endearing. I knew a girl whose left eye would twitch every time she'd get angry and I thought it was the cutest thing I'd ever seen.

It all goes to a persons preference and acceptance to quirks and differences. The same way you find it attractive on a woman, some women will find it attractive on you and some won't.

For some reason I wondered what it would look like if you got spaghetti stuck in between them? Lol but at the end of the day braces aren't a downfall. Good luck!

I don't think anyones going to tell braces will make you sexier... but they definitely wouldn't put me off someone I otherwise found attractive.

remember, girls are scheming, when I see a hot guy smoking, I automatically picture him 20 years in the future with Emphysema and no lung capacity.

When I see a hot guy with braces I see a guy taking care of himself with very straight teeth in the future.

Well for a 23 year old man I would advice you to get the invisible braces. Having a guy smile at me from across the room only to find out that he has a mouth full of silver is a bit of a turn off in my honest opinion. But I don't think it lessens your manliness by any means.

I am 23 will be 24 in a couple of weeks, and I have braces.

I don't think they're a turn off. I have the porcelain ones that blend with your teeth color. They can be endearing. =)

Its not a turn off... Good on you for getting them fixed :) at least the are only temporary & you'll have beautiful teeth soon! Braces are better then crooked teeth! I'm 21 and I have braces, I'm really glad I got them because now I'll have nice teeth for the rest of my life :)

Wouldn't say so. I myself had braces about 5 years ago so I don't judge people for them. It isn't relevant to your manliness unless you invest in pink ones.

It does not lesson your manliness at all. I have never had braces, but I think they are fine. It doesn't bother me in the least :)
