Why would the ambulance ask me if I have a disability?

They came over to my house asking me questions as well as helping me out with an issue. This isn’t a joke, nor is it a troll. Can someone please help me understand? That would be great! Thank you!

Usually, ambulance people would ask if you are on medications and if yes, which ones so that if they have to administer you something is not causing adverse reactions or making the condition even worse.

As for the disability, I presume that they also need to know how to handle you if you have a physical condition that would prevent them to handle you in a specific way. If you have glass bones for example or if you are sensitive to touch, they would have to use extra caution should you need to be put on a stretcher or require manual manipulations such as shocking your heart for example.

Some people, like me have invisible disabilities.

That's why when you see someone park in a handicapped parking space and get out and walk doesn't mean they are faking.

Maybe they just can't walk very far because of a medical condition that is invisible to other people.

It's important for the EMT in an ambulance to know as much as possible about their patient, and that includes any medicines you might be taking (which may be indicated by a disability you may have), as well as how you would need to be strapped down safely during transport.

When you call an ambulance for assistance they need to make an assessment and ask a few questions like your previous history or any similar events. It's part of their job. They need to know these things in order to know what to do next.

They probably had reason to ask an otherwise standard Q thats answer might impact your care. You should have asked them for specifics when you had the chance.
