I used to work in EMS. The EMS systems are hanging by a thread and are broken. I can especially speak for my state here in Tennessee. EMS and Fire are treated second-class as compared to law enforcement. Nationwide, more-rural and even some decently-populated communities still rely on volunteers to staff ambulances and fire engines. Advancements and progression of EMS and Fire has sort of stagnated.

Asa rule of thumb I call an ambuance if I cannot get the bleeding to stop and cannot drive myself to the hospital.

We better start caring for our fire and emergency services then, huh? That is what I am fighting for to compel state legislators to do something.
