Above which temperature is it dangerous to run and why? Do humidity levels matter?

It's hard to say: in some central African countries people run in all conditions, but they're used to it!
I guess that if I would try to run in the Greek summer climate you'd better put the ambulance on standby... I won't make it past the 1 km mark :-(
Humidity is important: in humid conditions your sweat can't evaporate since the almost saturated air can't absorb it. So you can't cool down and feel as if you have a 50 kg back pack :o
To my standards, doing sports above 25°C is difficult, above 32°C sickmaking and above 35°C... you were a nice girl *blows out his last breath* :-(

Hehe! Greek summers are hot! This month it's common for the temperature to reach 30 C. From mid July to mid August we have heat waves that last for weeks, near 40 C. I braved it today afternoon at 29 C with 45% humidity. I managed to run, I'd say it was tolerable. However, if it gets warmer than that, I don't know. I'm pale and I get headaches when the sun hits me for long

Oh yeah, but too much radiation from the sun and dehydration from the effort can cause a headache. Be careful, especially the dehydration part can be really dangerous since in those temperatures and during an effort it happens quickly :D

When your body sweats the idea is the wind drys the sweat and cools you down. If it is super humid then water/sweat can dry off so your body then sweats more. Even if it is not humid I would not go out in temperatures that are too hot not sure the exact temperature.

Your body must be able to get rid of excessive heat, that is why you start sweating. Humidity certainly plays an important role because it will influence the rate at which sweat can evaporate and cool your body. The maximum temperature will be different for each person, but all temperatures above 30°C are not healthy anymore because you approach the body temperature.

So if the problem with humidity is that sweat doesn't evaporate, does carrying a towel to wipe it off help?

Not really. Evaporating sweat cools you down extra via the evaporation heat. If the humidity is high this process is absent or very slow, so you loose that extra cooling power.

Personally I wouldn't run outside if it's over 80 degrees, but that's because I have zero heat tolerance haha. I either run in early morning, in the evening, or at the gym.

yes humidity matters it could be 70 degree but if it's humid everyone is fucked. 85+ is too much for me
