WHY AM I DEPRESSED?

i dont get it but my life seems to be going down into a depression but i dont see why like i have a beautiful girlfriend and a loving family the only thing wrong in my life is that no matter what i do my dad never seems to be proud of me but I've gotten used to it plus i have amazing friends who would do anything for me so i dont see what im missing in my life i was hit by a car 2 years ago but i only got a concussion from it so i believe god kept me for a reason but i dont understand why. Its not like i dont know what depression is cause i suffered it a few years ago so i know im feeling a bit depressed so I just need to get someone who can help me out and maybe can help fix my depression

I don't understand clinical depression, but I find I get depressed when I reach my dreams and find that there's nothing but emptiness that follows.

There's nothing I find worth waking up for in the morning at that point. Maybe the fact that you have a beautiful girlfriend and loving family and everything leads you to this sense that you've accomplished everything, only to find there's nothing to pursuit anymore.

My fix for that was always to fall in love with something new. It doesn't have to be someone. It could be a hobby like creating digital music (I got into that when I was brokenhearted in my 20s). All you need is to find something that compels you to do something every day you wake up.

There have been times at the lowest points in my life where I wanted to be like a soldier and join the military, even though I'm pacifistic in nature. I thought it would simplify my life and make it more black and white, giving me simple objectives that I can wake up and perform. Another example is the Red Cross. I tend to find discomfort in stillness when I'm idle and have no mission to accomplish.

you know i think you might be right b/c i normally do things for my girlfriend and im mainly with her which i love but it makes me feel completed and like i have nothing else to live for so thank you so much for your opinion it definitely opened my eyes to a different light and what else i need in my life! thanks to u i might be able to stop this depression befor it could get worse

Maybe you could pursue some hobbies. There are always new things you can get passionate about when you feel like you've accomplished everything. That said, immortality seems incredibly depressing to me, for example, since I think you could really exhaust every single thing there is to do.

That's called growing up! The world sucks and you're stuck here till you die and fade into nothing, welcome to reality.

Feeling down in the dumps happens. Try to embrace the positives in your life, and don't dwell on the few negatives.

With depression, you feel very sad, hopeless, and unimportant and you often are unable to live in a normal way. If this is how you feel, then you might need to seek professional help. They might be able to give you ways of dealing with this, both with medication or not.

Happiness isn't found in materialistic objects. You could have everything.. all the money in the world but you still won't be happy. If you don't know what is causing your depression you should see a therapist or talk about it to your doctor and maybe they can help you overcome this phase in your life.

no i mean like i am starting to be depressed agien b/c i have been having suicidal thoughts and all signs of being depressed but i just don't understand why i am and if you have an idea of why id love to hear it

Well depression happens, whether you want it to or not. Shit happens. It happened to me. I tried to kill myself. I got help. It happens. Have you been diagnosed with any depressive disorder?
