Any advice on tonsillectomy healing?

Any advice on how to get the pain to go away faster or get my uvula to become less swollen? I think it's because of my uvula but when I swollow food (so far ice cream and ramen) what was in my mouth not all would go down unless I put more food in my mouth to move it forward and ended up having to spit out the last bite because it was too difficult to swallow unless I got it far enough back.

I do take my medicine as directed, drink water every 20-40 minutes even if I'm not thirsty.

I heard talking hhelpsthe healing process, I also heard talking doesn't. Which is best?

The surgery was 8/3/16 around 9:30 so it hasn't been a whole day and it's not bothering except the swollen uvula.

The only good thing that came out of this was we told my three year old sister I would have a hard time talking and now everytime I tell her something she says "Oh my gosh you can talk" because she knows she's cute and it's funny. she's told me that over multiple times now.

Also the whole no more tonsil stones and such is great too, but my sister is cuter

hey there, poor you, sucking and chewing ice cubes is a good way to keep your throat moist and help alleviate some of the pain, you will have to stick to liquid foods for a bit, ideally cold, like drinking yoghurt, ice cream as you said, i have also heard that taking warmed honey can also help. also after eating gargling with a saline solution to clean the area will also help with pain and help prevent any infections. half a teaspoon of ideally natural sea salt to a mug of tepid water, lots of rest but on that note even though you need rest i would recommend setting alarms even when you sleep as sleeping for too long you may find you wake up in a lot more pain as your throat will have dried out, keep some ice on hand at night and very cold water, good luck with your recovery xx
