Stuff like shampoo and conditioner uses and all that necessary hassle.
Anybody willing to help a mane-brother out?
Well, not everyone's hair is perfectly straight. If you are going for a really straight look, then you will need to invest in a straightener. Now, don't panic! You can get a decent straightener for $30 at wal-mart or online. I bought a remmington pearl at walmart and it works great!
Buy some heat-protectant spray. This will prevents your hair from becoming frizzy and breaking. Tresseme makes this great spray that is in a black bottle with a red sprayer and it will protect your hair. There are many different kinds of heat protectant spray, any drugstore will sell them.
If you are doing a lot of heat styling, then make sure you use shampoo and conditioner! Conditioner will help moisturize the hair and prevent breakage and drying.
Now, a man-bun will require some elastics. You can get those for a decent price too at a drug store. Check out youtube for some tutorials on how to do buns. Practice it to perfect the man-bun! :)
Incredibly detailed and helpful! Thank you very much for the reply! Will definitely look into getting a straightner. I've also given up on the man bun. Going for long-hair and ponytail now! Thanks again.
You're very welcome! I'll be honest, I'm a lady and my lady-bun doesn't always turn out! :P
My boyfriend's hair goes down to the small of his back. It's in really good condition (better than mine :P ), all he does to it is use this tea tree and mint shampoo which is super cheap here, like 99p? So yeah, nothing special. He doesn't use conditioner. He brushes with just a standard comb. Whenever he's straightened it before, he's used a flat iron hair straightener.
Hmm, I see. So this shampoo keeps his hair in good condition? Might look into it. Thanks for the reply!
Girls hair straightener. I've used one a couple of times when i was a teenager. girls always said I looked hot when I did. then again this was 2006-2011.
I've been getting a lot of attention since starting to grow out my hair so I guess that hasn't changed much. Thanks for the tip!
My long hair and curly hair and it expands out like an Afro not down like a viking so not sure my advice would help lol.
Uhm... Thanks, I guess.

Use a flat iron hair straightener. CHI is a good brand.

Thank you, will look into it!
You have my boyfriends hair! Except his is a little longer. In any case I thoroughly suggest no man bun because they're awful. Ponies look nicer of guys in my opinion.
Yeah, I've been using my hair in a pony with some of the longer hair free, and I quite like it. Not all tied up, with some hair flowing freely. Pretty good and thanks for the unintentional ego boost!
Haha you're welcome? Yeah long hair has definitely grown on me (pun intended) and I have to say my boyfriend looks great with it! But his buns are terrible on him. I told him I'd chop them off next time I'm around and he does it.
Why straighten it? Just put it up in a bun with a scrunchy, it can be a messy man bun.
I've been trying that. And although I like it, some of my ends end up curling, sometimes. Makes my hair look like it's trying to spread wings and fly.
It's mostly straight though right? It can't be that bad, I have extremely curly hair 24 /7. If you try to straighten your hair more than it already is you might just give your hair heat damage.
Mostly yeah. Maybe I'm tying it wrong. Catching too much "bottom hair" and not enough "top hair" maybe? Anyway, thanks for the advice.
No problem. I hope you find what works for your hair.
You have long hair? Niceeee 😍😍😍😍 a fat iron or u can blow dry it straight before that for softer hair. Just use heat protectant!
Haha, thanks for the tips. Will be sure to be protected!
Why? Curly ends look better in a bun as opposed to spiky straight ends sticking out.
Yeah, I've given up on ths bun. Going for a ponytail on long hair now.
If you're just going to put it in bun afterwards then I wouldn't bother. It's too much work only to hide the hair all away.
