    just what i looked up
"Nut butter made from almonds contains more vitamin E and iron than peanut butter. Almond butter and peanut butter occupy similar niches in a healthy diet. Peanut butter can generally substitute for almond butter in recipes, and vice versa, and both nut butters share nutritional similarities."

    healthyeating.sfgate.com/...eanut-butter-6541.html

it appears almond butter has more iron and vitamin E but neither are really key in fighting fat or building muscle. otherwise they appear to have similar nutritional value

You NEED calories to build muscles. Come on Mr. Supermod

@HarvestMoon No, it's protein that builds muscles. Calories are just a measure of how much energy is in things we ear/drink. 3,500 calories is roughly 1lb in weight.

I should add I'm pretty qualified after 24 weeks of learning about dieting , foods and drinks and do have a rough idea of what i'm talking about!

@megankxthleen I would think the difference is minimal. Check on the sugar content. It may be listed under Carbohydrates which sugars. (As in UK). Pick the lowest.

You need balance in macronutrients in order to build muscle. Yes, protein is the building block of mucles, but if you eat a ton of proteins, you can't get enough calories from that, and you won't gain muscle. Caloric deficit results in your body builds muscle and breaks it down for energy. Trust me, I'm a bodybuilder

@HarvestMoon A balanced diet is all that's needed plus exercises. Nobody is talking about a calorific deficit. It sounds like quackery talking of macronutrients. Have different colour veg. They each contain different nutrients. Regardless of what you eat, exercise is the key to building muscles. A ton of protein? Count the f'n calories!! So why do body builders stuff themselves with whey protein powder?

You implied that only protein is important and calories aren't important for building muscles which is extremely false. Please, just sit down if you don't know what you're talking about... I've been doing this for over 8 years, and I have a college degree in that field.

@HarvestMoon You are getting way too deep relevant to the question. I don't care how many years you've been body building. That, too, is irrelevant to the question.

I am unimpressed by body builders, just as you would be unimpressed by my weight loss and increased fitness over the last 18 months. I DON'T have to brag about it. I'll stick with a balanced diet and exercise.

      End of discussion!

Just stop. You try to bring in all these jargons that you think will make you sound smart, but you don't. You don't know what you're talking about. You don't know how muscles work, you don't know the optimum conditions in which muscles grow, and you don't even know even the most basic physiology. Just stop. You're embarrassing yourself.

Thanks, but almond butter doesn't taste as good as peanut. Needs sugar because it tastes a little bitter
