I just recently started it (I didn't get a period until last fall) so I'm still getting used to all my symptoms.
I'm assuming it's a hormone imbalance or something. Anyone have the same thing happen and/or know of anything I could take?

If it's legitimately a hormone imbalance, then birth control pills can help with that. There's a specific pill called Sprintec - it's the one I'm on - and it has such a low dose of hormones that it doesn't give you any side effects (weight gain, nausea, etc.) but still has helped me balance out my hormones.
It's a bitch and a half if you don't take it at the same time or within three hours of the usual time every day though. Because being such a low dose, it's sensitive to that type of thing, so I've spotted for entire weeks for taking it like 6 hours later than usual.
hmm yeah I've never taken birth control cause I'm not sexually active and didn't want regular periods lol
Now that I get it every month anyways, might as well get on it. I always thought that birth control fucked with your hormones too, I don't know why. Thanks for the suggestion.
hahah yep
one of my friends took her Gildess pill like 12 hours late (packed it in her checked baggage on a 9 hr flight, instead of her carry-on... stoooopid) and ended up with a little bit of "red velvet" for about 3-4 weeks straight as a result ๐๐
@puppylove94 wait, am I reading the OP wrong? you didn't have yr first period until you were 20 or 21 years old?

Haha it's complicated. I started when I was 16 but lost it when I was 17 and didn't have it until last year. The doctor said it was because I didn't have enough body fat/too active.
When I went to Peru last summer I wasn't able to work out as much so I gained body fat and I got it back ๐
I was gna ask, but didn't know if sensitive subject.
I'm actually curious for my own daughter's sake when she gets a little older, considering the genetics that run in (the known part of) this family.
The "active" part is probably responsible for the bulk of yr lost periods, since I was pretty damn willowy back then -- between 120-130 lbs from my late teens until my mid-late twenties... at my height lol -- but I still had *almost* all my periods on time.
(You probably run more miles in a week than I've run in my entire life.)
Mine only got really fucked up when the sleep deprivation was at its absolute worst (a couple of years of just barely more than 10 hours a week of actual solid sleep).
Ahh okay yeah it's definitely a combination of both the doctor said. I would just go to practice for 2 hours and then run for at least 40 minutes every day. It's very common with soccer players and runners.
What sports does your daughter play?
Did you stop having it when you couldn't sleep?
Yes, and I'm angry at everybody. Like I'm so evil lbvs. It's odd to me, because some girls are emotional, and needy. I'm just like get the f@&$ away from me, I want alone time, and don't touch me. I'm a mess. Then out of nowhere like a week or two later it begins. I pms for two weeks max, and even during my period I'm still moody, and depressive.
A few days before it starts I'm not sad, but I'll feel really fatigued and a bit sick. Then the day before it's like I have a surge of energy and I feel really happy/great. My doctor said I do have a bit of a hormonal imbalance though, and recommended birth control pills to help regulate. They aren't for everyone, but if you are feeling bad or something during each cycle, it might be good to ask a doctor and see if they can help balance you out.
I wouldn't call it depressed but I overthink everything and my mind blows and I have mood swings and occasionally can even shout and yell.
The day before mine I usually have a meltdown and cry about everything and throw myself a pity party. Then I wake up to find that my period is here and think to myself "well that explains a lot" lol
The day before I usually cry a tonne and I don't know what for. Those damn hormones got me an angry bitch for about a week before and a cry baby the day of my period and just a crab for the most part.
That usually happens to me the week before it starts.
Then when my period comes, my mood goes back to normal. I guess birth control can help.
It never regulated me though. I take the pill and I still skip my periods hahaha.
Yes, me me!! I don't have anything against it. Everyone just has to avoid me for the rest of the few days.
Before and during I'll have severe mood swings that only consist of anger and sadness. So yeah, I feel your pain.
I do notice a mood shift. I just get irritable and upset.
I just become extremely emotionally vulnerable. Barely hurt my feelings? I'm crying. Mildly upset me? I'm crying. Piss me off? I'm yelling and I'm crying.
There's nothing you can take for that really since it only happens to you on your period, I do get down when I'm on it, so I guess it's normal
Yes, I am on it right now and I feel like stuffing my face with chocolate.
Yes, the night before or the night of I get really sad.
Yeah that's totally normal. Curious why yours came so late?
Yeah I get more emotional around the time of my period. Super sensitive. I also become a chocoholic.
Yup. For 3 or 4 days every damn time!
I tend to become more bad tempered and irritable.
How did you not get a period until last fall?
Day before I'm ready to fight everybody.
No but I get really emotional
Yes I do : (
