WHY IS EVERYONE SO FUCKING DEPRESSED?
Stop being so weak and fragile! We have it so easy compared to our ancestors and a single person nowadays complains more than all of our ancestors combined.

Maybe because in recent years there has been an increase in depression and other mental illnesses, especially on younger people. They didn't exactly have it harder, probably easier in terms of education and media which are the leading issues. There's a lot more pressure on young people now a days to get a good education, go to university and get a good job. Then throughout this you have to maintain your body otherwise you'll be called fat, but you can't maintain it too much or you'll be too skinny. You can't just have a carefree attitude because you get ridiculed for that if you're not "cool" enough to be like that. School and university is so much harder than it use to be. My boyfriend is studying to be a lawyer, he is full time 9-5 then he has to do hundreds of pages of readings a week. He lives away from home and sometimes needs a loan from his parents, his mum tells him to get a job, because she had a job when she was at uni doing an arts degree and she did it ezpz. The work load obviously differs majorly between subjects and throughout the years has changed. At my study place we don't have breaks between assignments , every two weeks we have a new one, sometimes we have like last week 3 at once. Of course I cracked, and it's group work , I know what you're thinking , that makes it easier! No it does not, it makes it so much harder because you have to work time into your busy schedules to meet up, often times I am the one doing all the work because nobody else cares enough. It's hard, obviously I had a break down.

I agree some people on this website seem to be complaining about the smallest things, but who knows if there is actually something else going on, something bigger and it's just easier to complain and get advice about the little things than to sort out the big thing.

You, though you have certainly contradicted yourself by complaining about the complainers, let's just let em be. Because reality is, you're only seeing what they are letting you see, you have no idea if that is the whole picture or not.

#1. Depression isn't a 'choice', It takes a lot of strength to live with it. its not for fragile weak people. Or people who are lucky enough to live relatively pain free life and imagine somehow this makes them 'strong'.

#2. Problems are relative to the world you live IN. Not the world you read about other people living in.

#3. With each solution comes new problems. You can't productively compare problems from today to problems of yesterday.

#4. When did you talk to all of our ancestors...

I don't see as much depressing stuff as just dumb shit. I read one before about s girl asking if you think her boyfriend cheated on her after going to a strip club and partying with the girls after. She said coke was involved too. Between shit like thst, virgins in their late 20s disagreeing with people who live a normal life and aren't on here looking for their fellow virgin LDR bride it blows my mind how naive the world is. i think it has do to with how school is teaching kids to be less aggressive and telling them things about sex and how they can be another gender before they even understand what it is to have a gender , it has confused the hell out of people.

Depression is an illness; it's not always brought on by hardship. It's hard to empathize with unless you've had it. But I assure you that being depressed does not make someone weak.
