Is anesthesia differant in needle pain?

Like I had something done yesterday and it doesn't require cutting so he game me 3 shots maybe and the shots were way less then I expected it.. I thought hell kill me lol.. but it's not bad really.. but my question is that does it depend on the problem for them to give you a harder shot of anesthesia? Or the shot is all the same, because the anesthesia was good but I don't think it's hard enough for cutting

Depending on the procedure there are different levels on anesthetic protocol. Generally speaking if they want to put you under, they give you a stronger injection and then keep you down with gas. If they just want you calm they'll use a different protocol and if it's something really small it's quite possible that they'll just numb the area as well using something akin to lidocaine. For example, I had a skin biopsy done and it would have been silly to knock me out completely for that, so they used lidocaine in the area before they took their samples.

But if they make you sleep general.. they don't use a needle.. they use iv or gas and whatever ... I had something replaced from my back tooth I really don't know what's it called in English, so he gave me injections that I feared but they were quick and not bad at all and got used to it.. so if say I have to do work that has to do with cutting the gums.. will the needle be Harder and more pain than that needle I got yesterday? Or the same or just a bit longer or harder...

Also when I got my wisdom tooth 4 out few months ago.. the anesthesia was great I didn't feel my sides at all and my tooth were strong and real hard.. but I didn't feel anything. . but I don't think the anesthesia from yesterday will do good in this type of situation

Generally the pain with injections is all pretty similar, some burn a little, some just a little pinch. I would say if you tolerated the injection you just got pretty well, you don't have anything to worry about. If you have any concerns, talk to your doctor.

Yes the one I got yesterday didn't effect a lot coz it's an outside problem but the ones I got for the wisdom teeth didn't differ a lot. . . maybe a bit longer.. also one question. . is the anesthesia on another part of your body the same? If it's a local injection.. will it hurt more. . like your toe or something

A local injection can burn, especially if it's lidocaine, but how badly depends on your tolerance and the area. I had it injected into my face, and it was veeeery painful, but I imagine your toe would not be so bad. Just be brave, I'm sure it'll hurt less than whatever they're going to do if they didn't use it!

I had a dermal piercing removed before an MRI. So they gave me an injection of lidocaine and cut the piercing out with a scalpel.

Needles can be very small, (22g is a very small needle), or larger, (14g is pretty big) depending on the situation. Some drugs are thicker, and it's impossible to administer them with a small needle. In my experience I try to use the smallest needle possible that can get the job done.

Lidocaine can be injectable, so given right into the area that they're numbing, or it can be topical like you described, either a spray or a cream. If it's a very simple procedure where they don't have to go too "deep" so to speak, you can get away with a topical application.

Damm I didn't know that.. the bigger needle means harder.. well the needle I got for my wisdom teeth wich involved opening gums and dogging and pulling like hell.. the needle was OK in size.. not thick like a horse needle lol

Sounds like you've been through this sort of thing before~ I would not worry too much! Again, you can always ask your doctor or nurse, they won't judge you.

Would you believe me if I tell you I wanna live because of my anxiety and thoughts about these medical stuff. . yesterday my heart went off when when I was waiting to go in. ... but it was nothing to be worried about.. ots just horrible anxiety... also that there is differsnt types and size of anesthetic needles made me more worried

A lot of people have terrible anxiety involving medical procedures, you're not alone. I'm TERRIFIED of the dentist. But the best thing you can do is have the doctor talk you through the procedure and tell you every thing that's going to happen. Have him tell you every step before he does it and why. That may help you feel better.

Yes but I bet not a lot of people get there fun of the days sycked out coz of that even tho they have no procedures upcoming or a dentist or nothing.. only over thinking stuff that there aren't doing anytime soon..

Your doctor can alter the depth of anesthesia depending on what the procedure requires.
It sounds as if you had "conscious sedation" for your's.
