If you have ever been under General Anesthesia, did you feel afterward that it was like dying?

I have had General Anesthesia, many times over the past several years to monitor a pre-cancer condition, including biopsies and treatment to prevent cancer from developing.

During one session, I told my Doctor, that being put to sleep, "Was like dying, only, you guys bring me back to life"! He gave me the strangest look from where he was standing, almost a look of 'fear' as it seemed to me.

For anyone that has undergone multiple procedures where you were put to sleep, did you have the same feelings after recovering from anesthesia?

I just felt incredibly confused. Last time I remember being woken up by the nurse, seeing a clock on the wall and thinking, huh that took longer because it was like quarter past 12 and I was supposed to be out at like 11. Then she took the tube out of my mouth. Which felt terrible. I closed my eyes again and opened them what I thought was a couple seconds later but it was half an hour. Nurse asked if I was ok, I said I was thirsty and she gave me some water to sip on. Then I guess because I was aware enough to talk they took me back to my room. Then I was nauseous the rest of the night and threw up after one bite of my dinner which after having abdominal surgery and the stupid nurse moving my sick bowl to the end of my bed was really not fun

It wasn't a bad experience really. Probably better than when I had my tonsils out. I fainted as my dad was signing the discharge papers so had to stay longer.

I take it you had the tonsils out as an adult or at least not a small child?

Well, I've never died, so I can't compare it to that, but I've been put under twice (well, maybe three times, but I was passing in and out of consciousness then anyway, so I'm not sure), and it was much like falling asleep. "Coming to" in general is a more... involved procedure than waking up, but it's not hugely different, in my experience.

I can assure you dying is completely different, because you'll have an instinct wave of panic and fear, your knowledge of knowing you're just being put to sleep is what kept you calm, add panic and fear to that experience and you just experienced the closest feeling to dying

My experience with persons dying, has been that they did not KNOW they were dying, in that they simply slip into a comatose condition and THEN die. My MD, told me that when my mother was dying of cancer, as she was not in pain, but was in a 'coma', she did not have any panic per se, but just slowly 'slipped away' That is why I compared it to being anesthetized

No, I didn't feel afterward that it was like anything. I did experience was time dilation in recovery. I was in recovery for a few hours but in my mind it was a couple of days.

I tend to always look at the clock on the way to see how long I was "gone"

No it felt like time travel. I just skipped ahead 7 hours instantly, while everyone else spent the time performing surgery or hanging out in the waiting room and probably ate a meal too. I don't remember all of waking up, but I remember not realizing anything had happened until the nurse confirmed I was in recovery.
