What Do You Think About Morbidly Obese People?

Question

I know the picture may be funny to some people, but I'm actually asking a very serious question. What do you think of morbidly obese people? I'm not talking about someone who could afford to lose like maybe 20 pounds. I mean those ho are so huge, they can't walk for long, can't run, BMI is over 35, have health problems, need a motor chair in the grocery store obese people. When you first see them, without knowing them as a person, what do you think about them personally?

I find it funny how people can judge someone based on their appearance. Does it affect you? Yes, there are larger people in the world. Just like there are stick thin people in the world. There usually is a reason for why people are the way they are. Those "skinny" people, could have an eating disorder or just have trouble gaining weight. Some over-weight people may have had a traumatic experience and resort to food because they dont feel good about themselves. OR, some of those overweight people have already lost weight and are in the process of losing more. I used to be over 300 in highschool. Now im under 200 and people probably still say im "morbidly obese". Yet, I couldnt be any more prouder of my size now. Unless someones appearance affects you... shut up.

I voted other, because when I see them my body hurts for them. I feel so bad because I understand certain things are limited and therefore dehumanizing. Like being able to properly dress, wash or wipe yourself.

Getting up and doing things as simple as walking around for a few minutes is absolutely exhausting and bones don't grow with the amount of fat that is gained, so their teeny tiny skeletons are under a great deal of stress and therefore they experience a lot of joint pain.

I truthfully feel really, really bad for them. It depresses me.

I don't think of someone morbidly obese very differently than I'd think of someone in better shape. It's not my place to judge them on their lifestyle, diet choices, etc..

On the odd occurrence that I see a morbidly obese mom and dad walking out of McDonald's, with 2-3 children below 10 years of age (also morbidly obese) trailing behind them, each with a happy-meal bag in their hands, though?

I interact with a lot of big people like that. They're just people to me. I don't really notice their weight much.

I think a lot of people on here don't understand what the beginning of being obese and morbidly obese looks like. They're probably smaller than you'd think. Some of them, especially the young ones, are fairly agile and don't have health problems as well.

Here's an example. He's technically morbidly obese on the right even after losing 98 pounds. I don't think many would consider him that way though.

I feel sad for them and think they should get medical help since that shit's gonna cost them their life pretty soon andif it doesn't, it handicaps them so much their life must be quite miserable.

I'm not talking about people who are overweight, I am also only talking about those who can barely walk, have breathing problems, can't wash themselves properly anymore, can't get dressed because they can't touch their feet etc. That would make me feel miserable since I'd feel like a prisoner of my own body.

I voted C and I'm gonna be honest, when I was really sick with anorexia I would sometimes watch these shows or documentaries about obese people as a motivation to lose even more weigh to never become "disgusting" like that. And now that I'm recovering I feel like I can sort of relate to them? I mean, many of them are actually addicted to food and so was I, just that I got my highs from not eating at all while they get theirs from binging.

I just think about how unhealthy they are and what their diet is like. It gives me motivation to stay away from the bad foods that now dominate our stores. I know it's their fault for eating to that size, but I also know that most people have no idea what they put in their bodies every day. I think about the medical conditions that they will have to suffer now, because of their abnormal weight. Humans aren't supposed to weigh 300+ pounds.

I've never seen that in real life... and I hope it never gets to that in my country... and I hope it gets to be less and less of a problem everywhere. Mostly, when I see it online I think how they allowed themselves to get that way + I feel sorry for them, but also I just don't get it. How?

I get confused when they say "i'm hungry"... i'm thinking "are you really or do you just think you are?' i don't know how you can get that big, to eat means you have to make a conscious decision to eat that extra cheeseburger

Making fun of people for looking a certain way is very primitive monkey behavior. Human beings can be so goddamn stupid and immature. You act like you've never seen morbid obesity. Yeah its not attractive but just leave them alone.

Well, I'm considered "obese" but I've lost 101 lbs and losing more. Went from 375 lbs to 274 lbs. You don't know if they've lost weight or not. Don't be quick to judge.

I question how they could let themselves get that bad off. All that extra body fat is putting a dangerous level of stress on their bodies.  Though I constantly see people that fat where I live.

I feel bad for them. It looks like someone has completely given up on life and are only existing to eat. It seems sad that a person would do that to themselves. I see it as a form of addiction.

it's 90% between the ears. The brain is deficient n A neurotransmitter that controls appetite. When this is normal, you can't overeat. Anorexia is the opposite edge of the same sword. We know very little about the brain. Just don't judge them.
