Did you ever experience drug addiction?

How it was? How was the relationship with other people?

Most people who are addicted manage to find a way to hide it. Other than the visual after effects. Generally addicts have a hard time who have set bias's against those who use. But thats more of a bad bias against the drug. Overall drug addicts generally have their own niche they make and use for support.

I have not personally been addicted to substances. But I have gone through rehab with friends who have done just about none synthetic drug at least once. And rehab doesn't work unless the person wants to get clean on a personal level.

I'd have to say yes. It's going tonsound dumb but I've been hooked on weed on and off many times over the years. I become mentally dependent on it so it's not a physical addiction like other drugs.
It puts a lot of strain on a lot of things since you can't do much while stoned as shit and I'd go months of being stoned all day almost everyday. I hate it now and wish I could be like most people who just do it once in a while for fun. I haven't touched it in a month and I'm calling it quits for good.

Yes. It's hard at first. But once you get past that first week it gets easier. Then you just have to keep telling yourself you can go another week, another month, another year without it. You can make a challenge out of it like "I bet I can go without (drugs) for a week/month/year." And keep telling yourself that. That's how I do it. Makes me believe in myself and my willpower.

Sorry - I mistakenly thought this was about quitting drugs. In my experience, it affected my work and relationships and mental health. I was a "functioning addict" but I had rough days just cuz of the drugs.

One friend was addicted to every drug he could get. Started at 19 with weed.

One morning I got a phone call from his panicked wife. Drove 30 miles. The doctor had already left: OD His emaciated corpse was ghastly.
His wife and mother were fighting about who was responsible for his addiction. When I consoled his wife his mom got angry at me.
He was 29. No kids, by chance.
She emigrated to Canada and married there. I never heard anything from her again.
End of story.
I don't know if his OD was accidental or a suicide.

@asker Many prescription pain medicines are synthetic opiates, and are highly addictive. Such as Oxycodone.
