Guys, is 120 lbs fat?

I'm almost 5' 8". I'm really 5' 7 3/4" I weigh 120 and I feel so fat. How would you describe me as? Skinny, normal, chubby, fat, obese? Lol girls you can answer too!

How on earth would you even ask this question? I am the same height as you and I weigh more than you and I'm not even fat. There's no way you're fat, at your height you are very skinny and only a few pounds away from being emaciated. What's up with all these girls thinking they are fat? Stop comparing yourself to models. Most of them use drugs, are anorexic or are underage. Just because someone is skinnier than you doesn't mean you must be fat.

No offense, but these questions normally p*ss me off too. Not only are you tall and probably gorgeous, you are ridiculously skinny without looking anorxic too. You're basically the trifecta.

It all depends upon body type but usually 120 lbs / 5'7 is usually neither anorexic or tall.

No 140 is not chubby. Please check your facts or consult a doctor. I am shorter than her weigh much more than her, and am not even close to fat or 'chubby'. At 5'7 a girl normally weighs between 127 and 159. Average is 140. Check any health site or doctor.

And for her being tall.. she is. The average height for a women is 5 feet 3.8 inches. She is not just an inch taller, and not just two inches taller. Therefore I qualify her as tall.

I'm not saying she should gain 20 pounds. I'm not saying she should gain any weight. I'm saying that the AVERAGE female who is 5'7 weighs 140. The AVERAGE range starts at 127. Obviously girls at 5'7 can weigh less or weigh more and still be healthy, not chubby, not anorexic. But the average is what it is. Being less just proves that the OP is not fat.

These questions are just horribly annoying :/ You probably look fantastic and to discribe you it would be skinny. I'm the same weight but I'm 5'1-5'2 and I'm by no means fat, I carry a lot of muscle weight from running and riding horses. Please be confident of yourself :]

If you're looking for guidelines on healthy weight, calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI). I'm going to go ahead and tell you that you're about an 18.2, where as 18.5-25 BMI is normal. So you're actually unhealthily underweight. If you continue to lose weight it's likely you'll start suffering negative side effects. Increases your caloric intake and exercise more.

BMI isn't everything when it comes to being healthy...you can be underweight by BMI and still healthy depending upon your build and what you eat.

Key phrases in that post were "guidelines" and "continue to lose weight". BMI is and always will be a guideline for healthy weight, and is pretty lenient when it comes to it's numberings. I was not trying to promote the BMI scale as a definite test for healthiness. She believed she was on one end of extreme when she was infact at the other, and I was trying to emphasiz that by noting that she was clinically underweight.

You can have a normal BMI and still be overweight, just as you can have a higher BMI and not be.

The study you posted suggests that the BMI scale is too leninent with classification, which is exactly what I stated in my first comment. I''ll repeat it until you understand exactly what I'm saying: the body mass index is a GUIDELINE FOR HEALTHY WEIGHT. It is not nor was it ever intended to be a definite scale for the healthiness of an individual, and holding it to such a standard and proclaiming it's inconsistency with that standard is foolish.

No need to scream. Of course, it's a "guideline"...the question is whether it's a good guideline because it gives an incomplete picture. WHR+BMI is a better guideline, and some say WHR alone is better. That study and similar ones are not just showing that the scale is off, but that BMI is sometimes a very bad guideline.

Also, the OP is under 18, which makes the Adult BMI scale you're using completely meaningless.

You are probably normal.

What matters more than your overall weight is where the fat is distributed. If your wrists, neck and waist are fine then most likely you're not at all fat.

People who say you're too skinny don't know what they're talking about either, because when I was 14, I was a few inches taller than you but only weighed 120 lbs.

Probably partially my metabolism, because I eat a lot. But I'm sure it's also what I eat.

I eat pretty much everything these days, but I was raised on a healthy diet because my mom knows a lot about nutrition. Your body is like an engine where if you put just any old fuel in it, it won't work so well. But with the right fuel, the engine runs very smooth and efficient. Eating a lot of unprocessed whole foods is important!

But remember that women are supposed to put on more fat than men.
