Is it okay for someone to lie about their age in a gym?

I’m 15 and I want to go to PureGym. Is it okay for me to lie and say I’m 16? I would look for an alternative gym but I want to do classes and all gyms require you to be 16 to do classes anyway. I’m mature for my age. Most people are surprised when I tell them my age and say that they thought I was ‘17’ and I’ve even had in my ‘early 20s’ a couple of times. I’ll be going with two friends (who look their age) and will not be messing around. Could we get ID-ed and kicked out? Could lying about my age get me into any legal issues? If you were an adult would you dislike a 15 year old in your gym? Have you ever lied about your age at a gym?

Go for it. Those arbitrary age limits for stuff like this are silly anyway (even if for legal purposes, which is also arbitrary). Just respect the gym/class environment, get your workout on, you'll get what you want out of it and the gym gets your $$. Win-win all around. Have fun.

The "legal" issue isn't that you could get in trouble for trying to sign up. Worst that could happen there is they cancel your membership. But what could be risky legally is if you somehow got legit hurt/injured during a class or doing anything else at the gym. So yeah, just respect the environment and don't do anything stupid or risky.

In this case, it is a problem. It probably has something to do with their insurance or needing parental permission (maybe local regulations?).

No, I wouldn't lie about my age to go to a gym or anything. I've been to PureGym and they're great, you can wait till you're 16

I doubt they ID you, it's not anything crazy

They will want to see some type of ID to verify your age, so don't bother lying.

Even at my age I find the 15 year olds at my gym annoying as fuck. Because they usually know nothing about the gym and how to workout safely. Although they are allowed here...

If you get found out by an inspector of the gym then the gym can get into serious trouble and may even get shut down. Alternatively you can also get into serious trouble which could result in a fine for your parents.
