Assuming that we get the vaccines on the market and distributed, the disease will still be around but dramatically reduced by 2022. In my opinion. Assuming that people actually get the vaccine...

Off topic but I don't get how people STILL are trying to talk about this like it is no big deal. One lady tonight told me that she doesn't think the death numbers are big. I guess 268,000 US deaths alone, don't seem like a big number to her. She's a retired lawyer.

What is interesting about this lady, is that she was the first person I know who actually HAD Covid early on in the pandemic, and she was pretty sick. I didn't run into her until she was over it. Maybe she can't conceptualize that some people get it WORSE and die from it? And now she says that she doesn't think the death numbers are big enough for governments to tighten things down. For someone who is supposedly educated she doesn't look past her own nose. I was pissed off after talking to her yesterday.

The pandemic really has stopped being a big thing. The medical facilities are no longer overwhelmed with patients, and supply shortages have been satisfied. The initial shock and fear of making a few lifestyle changes have passed. Enough people have been infected and survived to further convince people the illness is VERY survivable. A vaccine is also just around the corner, so the "new normal" will evaporate as well.

My main concern is that fear is the major element used to curtail freedom. I just hope our Government does not use it as a tool to tighten control over the citizens and create a more authoritarian or totalitarian state.

Well they’re wrapping up a covid vaccine that should be out pretty soon with around 90% effectiveness so definitely once everyone gets vaccinated it’ll fizzle out and won’t really be as huge a thing as it is rn.

Because people can't smarten up and wear a mask, stay at home as much as possible, and wash their hands often, this virus will be around for years.
Fucking idiots out protesting masks and calling this thing a hoax, encouraging others to do the same. My province was at under 40 cases this summer. Now we're getting 100 new cases a day and our ICUs are full because people aren't taking this seriously anymore. We need everything to be shut down again for a few months

I don't think it will last the entire 2021. But then again there were lots of people that said it will end before the end of the year, and now look it's December...

So I'm hoping that it will end soon cause I still think it's a bit ridiculous. With things being closed and things having limited access.

It will be a thing till we get well over 50% of people in the world vaccinated. That is only my opinion though.

The vaccines will reduce it enough that it's no longer a major thing. It will become like measles--still around, and every so often you'll hear of an outbreak, but for most people not a part of their day-to-day existence.
