Absolutely. I not only rinse, but I very quickly brush again with water before rinsing. There is plaque/food residue in the toothpaste after brushing, so a very quick brush again with water helps brush away any remaining particles. I also brush my tongue and the roof of my mouth before doing a full rinse as well. It makes a big difference.

My procedure goes like this: brush outside (sides and front), brush the tops of my teeth, brush inside, brush the roof of my mouth, brush my tongue, spit remaining toothpaste, quick repeat brush with water, rinse, floss, rinse again and then use mouthwash.

I rinse my mouth.

then lightly brush my teeth again and then not rinse.

I had a fairly bad fall years ago and cracked a number of teeth, my dentist recommended leaving a final layer of toothpaste behind as it is better than simply rinsing your mouth clean.

there is an element of OCD lol.

Yes! I even rinse when my breath needs refreshing. Nobody likes a funky smelling mouth!

Yes. Both from pragmatism and from growing up with an autistic best friend (sometimes it's best to accept someone's word that something sucks, without requiring proof).

But doesn't everyone? Wouldn't walking around with a mouthful of toothpaste residue be deeply unpleasant for anybody? The stuff doesn't actually taste good.

I typically floss 1st, then brush with a couple different brushes using an all-natural- ingredient liquid soap, then rinse with water, then with Crest Oral Rinse

It can be skipped. I prefer to rinse with water. Rinse can be done with mouth wash as well.
