Why does my ear piercing itch?

I reopened my ear piercing hole about 2 weeks ago and it just started itching really bad. I know for sure it is not infected because there's no blood or nasty pus coming out it looks like a healthy piercing, but it's itching like crazy!

That is typical of a little bit of infection or a reaction to the material you are using.
You might have a sensitivity to certain metals. Even gold earrings may have a soldered joint that you react with. Try another earring with surgical steel or niobium or something hypo-allergenic.

Allergic reaction would be my first guess.
