Is it true that the Covid vaccine causes a cough a month or 2 after getting it?

My dad said he’s been hearing stuff on the radio about fully vaccinated people dying from Covid or people developing a cough a month or so after it. And for the past couple weeks I’ve been having a bad cough that’s been getting worse, and it even makes me gag and throw up. I have coughing fits where I feel like I can’t breathe and I get so out of breath and my body temperature feels like it goes up with it. I can’t do anything like laugh or eat without having to worry about coughing, gagging and throwing up and at night I’ve been coughing like crazy and it’s a dry cough. And in the mornings I feel like I have to throw up constantly and it’s hard to stop even though I get so out of breath and hot, and nothing comes out except pinkish stuff cuz of an empty stomach. And I’m fully vaccinated. I got the first dose of the moderna in mid May and the second dose in mid June. I just want this to be over already.

From the evidence coming out of Israel, which is the most vaccinated country, it doesn't seem to be working that well on the varients and the majority of people in hospital, critically ill all have been vaccinated there.

I wish there was some magic cure for it, but it's looking like the vaccine isn't it, or at least needs an update.

Keep yourself informed and then decide your risk / reward. Unfortunately its not an easy choice to make.

The vaccines aren’t 100% effective at preventing infection. I saw an article discussing a study that showed fully vaccinated people in the UK were 50% less likely to become infected, and if they were infected, 50% less likely to spread the virus to others. That study just came out. The study was researching the Delta variant.

A recent CDC study that came out late last month, found 44% of breakthrough infections happened in immunocompromised people, a population in which the vaccines don’t work as well, and 74% of fully vaccinated people who ended up in the hospital were elderly.

We shouldn’t be so concerned about the spread of the virus. We should be more concerned about the number of hospitalizations, and vaccination significantly reduces a person’s risk of being infected and hospitalized. The virus is here to stay. That’s a fact, just like the flu.

There's new data coming out all the time. Everything is new, the virus, the vaccines and the varients so we just don't know.

I think it's way too early so say that it's "just like the flu" and that vaccines are so successful.

I hear talk of boosters needed every three months, that isn't like the flu. There is also the possibility of mutations that are much more severe.

The news from Israel is that close to 90% of hospitalizations there are fully vaccinated people, not a good sign. They are starting a booster program there.

I gave up predicting the future a year ago. The only true fact is that nobody knows but a lot of people are pretending to.

You misquoted me. I didn’t say this virus is like the flu. I said it’s here to stay, just like the flu is. Just like we’ve learned to live with the flu, we’ll learn to live with this virus. The mRNA technology allows for vaccines targeting a specific strain of a virus to be developed more quickly, so it won’t be like the flu shot, which is a best guess as to what strain will be more prevalent. That’s why the flu vaccine is not as effective, because it’s a guess. In fact, mRNA technology has been researched in creating a flu vaccine.

It doesn't look promising to me. Technology gets better with time, but it's been a struggle just to get out the current vaccine, and it's already two strains behind.

Even the booster they are giving people is just the same one targeting the Alpha strain which is all but gone.

It's good to have a positive outlook, I stopped predicting things tho.

Im with you , I still think its the best move vaccination , now I did get a bit of a cough , Im possibly your Dads age , but it was slight and Im fine well after , Id encourage him to just take it easy , forget the sensationalist stuff , he will be fine.

Like you , I just want it all over with , you can see vaccination passports coming.

no, the covid vaccine is gone from your body in a few hours. You may have some flu like symptoms for a day or two but after that there is no effect, except now you are safer!

No the vaccine doesn't cause a cough a month after. I've been jabbed twice and all I got was a sore arm where the needle went in for a day or two after.

It depends what you plan to do about it. In Australia they will just isolate you and not treat you unless you get really sick.

I did missresd the question and though she was considering taking it. But in general, if you're suffering so bad you should see a doctor for anything.

@Lazi-boi I am Covid tested weekly for business travel and within 3 days of getting the second vaccine I developed a cough, it is dry and spermatic but daily ever since going on 3 months. Is it a side effect? My doctor thinks it might be. I also have severe head aces for the first time in my life and a persistent metallic taste in my mouth.

No one knows what all of the side effects are for any of the shots. Some people have died from the shot and some have a sore arm for a day and thousands of things in between. I sure do wonder what the actual long-term effects are going to be.

I have a dry cough now that has lasted several weeks since I got my first vaccination. (I’m not going back for another) It’s making it extremely difficult to sleep through the night and is affecting my daytime alertness. It’s a scratchy tickle that moves around my throat. It is also sometimes triggered by eating something. My primary doctor says it can’t be from the jab. I think he’s wrong. The other symptom I’ve developed is joint soreness from any kind of weight bearing exercise. So you know, you’re not alone. Always trust your instincts.

Short answer: We do not know since there is zero research on the long-term effects on the vaccines. Not to mention for some reason we aren't doing autopsies despite pushing out a vaccine that was pushed out with only a temporary permission.

So yes, it is definitely possible.

Another option is that the vaccine simply isn't working in your case and you are actually ill right now with covid.

The current COVID vaccines on the market have been linked to myocarditis and pericarditis. Chronic coughing is a common symptom of myocarditis, pericarditis, and heart failure in general. So sure, yes that would make sense medically.

The vaccine doesn't prevent you from getting COVID-19. it makes you 800% less likely to get it and 2,500% less likely to die from it. So people can still get it, and still die from it. The vaccine just makes it less likely. It stimulates your immune system to create antibodies to a specific antigen. While the COVID-19 cells have that antigen there is no guarantee you can create the necessary antibody, I can't.

Not for me LOL! The only side effects I got were two seizures and twitching 5-10 times a day. I am perfectly fine and highly suggest getting vaccinated to anybody who isn't yet.
