These videos are terrible. Real fights don’t go that way at all, none of them know how to actually fight. They’re giving women a false sense of confidence, and I don’t know why these people teach self defense at all. Clueless.

A groin strike can be effective, but it’s not a sure thing. Some guys might go down with on strike to the groin, others might just get more aggressive, especially if you just throe the one strike expecting him to go down.

A groin strike should be used with other techniques also. It’s best to learn from muay thai fighters about how to fight in the clinch, how to kick knee and elbow. And best to learn from boxers how to punch.

But then again as a woman fighting a man unarmed is a bad idea anyway. If you end up in such a situation you should attempt to pick up something sharp to stab with or something heavy to bash him over the head with. If not you have to fight really dirty - bite, eye gouge etc.

I’m not a big dude, and I’ve been in some situations. Even I will do the above. The way you win when you’re smaller than your opponent in a violent situation is with extreme violence and viscousness, and the reason is that you want to fuck their head up.

When someone attacks you they’re in a predator mindset and they see you as prey. If you go completely psycho and cause a lot more damage than they expected you could really quickly you can flip their mindset to “prey”.

I wouldn't say so.

Mostly because of the difficulty of landing the shot, unless he is standing still and like a cowboy.

But if we are going with childhood lessons of how to defend yourself I would suggest you go with the teachings of the Karate Kid:

If a man can't breathe, can't see or can't stand then he can't fight.

More seriously; if you are in the US, you should be armed. If you are in the UK or similar you should make sure you know where you are so that you can accurately explain your location to the police, YES, the police, not your friend, not your mum, you call the police when you are in danger.

Better still, dont put yourself into a dangerous situation to begin with.

Go where there are people, bang on someones door, shout, raise the alarm some how, get help.

Get a taxi home if you live some where dangerous.

But Im pretty sure you are more likely to be hurt by someone you already know than by a stranger in the street, so don't stay in toxic situations, don't piss people off so much that they want to murder you etc.

As long as your strike to the groin is a clear shot and you kick as hard as you possibly can straight up into the guy’s balls, then such a groin attack will always be massively effective. Every time I’ve kicked, or seen a guy be kicked like this, it has always been massively effective and devastating, yes.

They are, that's why everyone is told to use it in self defense situations. But it is also very expected so you don't need to rely only on that.
Anyway it is especially very debilitating on male and it'll give you some time to run away.
And I must add it should never be done on regular guys

From wrestling and martial arts practice, I've been hit in the nuts about 15-20 times. It hurts. These were usually accidental hits. You do build up a tolerance and techniques to cope.

Men who attack women will probably be expecting a knee the the groin. A man turning his body 90 degrees to an attacker (boxer stance) will greatly cover his nuts. An attacker can wear a cup to protect his nuts, which will nullify a groin attack. If you kick and your attacker catches your leg, you will fall to the ground.

I suggest carrying pepper spray or a firearm, but you need to understand the law on when you can use them. Improper use will result in you going to prison.

To be truly effective you have to hit just right and hard if you're off or if it's somewhat blocked you better do it again quick go for The Knockout or hit as hard as you can right in the center of the chest right below the breast where the top rib rib is to knock the wind out of them

Only IF you can actually land them.

In reality, it's not to be relied upon.

The large muscles of the thigh protect the groin well, guys aren't going to stand there with their legs apart so you can do it, and unless you're well trained and practiced at doing this, in a real scenario, you're going to just panic and crumple.

Yes and no, But if you kick as hard as you can, you could buy yourself some time to run away from the situation. However if the guy attacking doesn't have any testicles or is wearing a protective cup... it probably wouldn't be effective.
