Do you have a sauna? How big is it? Where is it?

A sauna sounds realllly good right about now. Brrrrr.

No but my husband and I are talking about building one. I'm Finnish (live in the US) and my grandparents have one so I grew up having saunas when we would visit. Theirs is in their backyard and my grandpa built it by hand in the 80's.

I have fond memories of going to sauna at night in the winter. You throw water on the rocks to heat it and mix the water in buckets to bathe and then you have to run through the snow back to the house lol

My husband and I recently bought our first house and putting a Finnish sauna in the backyard is on our list lol

My parents have one. It's about 12' deep by 6 feet wide with 2 benches along one side. It has a wood stove and an electric heater. We rarely used the wood stove since it was less convenient. I want to put one in my current house but it's a lower priority as we have been gutting and renovating the house one or two rooms at a time.

Sadly no. I'd like one that has two levels of seating, 😉😏 and not too small, at least 6' x 6' maybe, like the one in the photo but without the side bench on the left, unless I won the lotto. A TV or music would be an added bonus. It would be great to have something like that off the master bath/bedroom.

It sounds good but we don't have one. Our house isn't big enough for a sauna.

I've learned that we Americans pronounce it wrong. We say SAW-nuh when the correct pronunciation (it's Scandinavian) is SOW--nuh.

Not in my home, but there was one at the clubhouse where my parents live, and I lived until 5 months ago. I believe that there is one at the campus gym, but we’ll, I wouldn’t want to, use it!

Yes. It’s a two bed. Unfortunately our tree killed the gas line to it and the really lovely in-ground spa a few years ago. Huge deal to repair. So we filled the pool and now the sauna is a shed.

Do you actually wear heavy robes in your sauna? Naked or very minimal is best instead of sweating into a robe.

I do not have one but my father did. He had a new bathroom addition built and had a sauna and whirlpool. It was not very big but big enough for at least 4 people.
