Why wouldn't a home sauna be a good idea? Installed properly with the proper ventilation the heat and humidity can either be harnesses to condition the rest of the house or ventilated outside.

We'd likely put in an electric heating element based on how expensive a proper chimney would be, but wood stoves aren't particularly dangerous as long as they're installed properly and the chimney flue is maintained and kept free of kreosote. It's probably safer to have a cast iron wood stove in a sauna than a fireplace in the living room.
