I was reading up on this child because this child is similar to one I work with. Anyways this child pictured is vegetative. Can't walk, talk, eat, or use the bathroom on their own. The girl pictured is 23 and still in diapers. Confined to a bed and wheelchair. On 30 medications , has frequent doctors visits, and has had multiple surgeries which the state covers. Along with physical, occupational, and speech therapy.
Anyways, the child I work with is in the same position and the parents swear after the surgery their child will get up and walk. I told them I'm sorry but your child hasn't walked in 3 years and as parents you guys waited too late. I just kept it real no fairy tales. Was I harsh?
If your child were vegetative like this would or you knew before birth they would be like this would you have an abortion or give them up? And why?

I honestly can't say. I think quality of life plays a serious role in the decision making process. I do know that any other animal within the animal kingdom, that gave birth to baby like this would abandon it, without any moral/ethical obligation, or debate about it. So I obviously would think abortion would be more human than abandonment. I also think most people would not have the emotional or financial means to properly care and provide for the needs that a child like this would demand.
So again, quality of life does matter... and preserving life by all means no matter the cost does not seem completely moral or ethical to men either.

I would talk to my wife, and discuss it, and would most likely try to convince her to abort the child, with these reasons:
I have work friends with a child that was 'damaged' at birth, and they are trying very hard to try to help the boy be self-sustaining while they are able to do so. I am doubtful they will be able to see him able to fully care for himself after they are gone.
Life is/can be difficult for a person who is in full control of his faculties, but nearly impossible for someone that is/was born damaged. I fear for that person when his/her biological parents are gone, as to what may happen to them or who will care for them.

I asked recently asked a similar earlier and most said they would raise them.
"If you knew that you child would be born mentally challenged or severely disabled would you want an abortion?

I think it would be hard to know what things that will befall your child although some things can be determined by an ultrasound, but mental handicaps are heard to see. But if you knew your child would be born deformed or something would you want an abortion, even if you were pro life?"
The above is the only scenario under which I would consider abortion (if anyone is curious: I’m pro-choice). I have known I want children since I have memory, but I would not want to sacrifice my child by imposing such conditions on my them for my sake. It would be a heartbreaking decision, but it feels like the best for them. It’s not the same to survive than to feel alive. I’m saddened anyone has to make that choice.

Got this story before. Father of a girl having similar problems. She wouldn't live and every day involves pain and suffering for her. He carried her home one day from the hospital. He left her in the car. Took a gun from the house and shot her.
Seriously wack but if you were in his shoes what would you do? Would you want to put the guy through all that again, everyday, for the rest of his daughter painful life?
So yeah. I would rather go through with abortion than having to shoot my own daughter.

You wouldn't know when pregnant until the baby is to old to abort. Are people monsters if they want to let their child die in peace? What kind of life is that for a child to live? The Native Americans used to leave babies like that out in the woods for the wolves to eat. The world was never a fair place.

I'm honestly not sure. It doesn't make me happy but I'm leaning towards aborting. Simply because I'm not fond of the idea that they'd be living in misery. But I really don't know.
