I'm thinking of cases where the baby is born with half of its brain and no matter the medical care the baby will die within a month. They are usually deaf, blind and have almost no awareness. Clearly you can not adopt the child away either..
I honestly don’t know what to exactly answer with, hospitals and such can get these things wrong and i know stories similar although not like this where they had problems but weren’t necessarily “disabled” disabled as they made it seem like. See they have more limits then a casual human has and need a supporting-role from someone for their whole life, but they can still live and enjoy things in life even though they’re mentally not as capable. I think that personally for me it would be the woman in my life who would truly make feel as if i want to care / abort it depending on her opinion and how it makes her feel, (If it made her feel like a shit mother or simply depressed i would probably prefer to abort it althought it would cut deep, do believe a man needs to take those tough kinds decisions when times comes to shove) though your environment around you and life-experiences will certainly make your opinion on this clear. I know of stories and some people who are less mentally-capable, but as long as i don’t get a woman pregnant and a experience like this there’s no genuine way to tell how i would feel about it and how i would deal with it. For me the money and costs that comes from it wouldn’t even come to my thoughts, it’s literally a part of me and the woman i love it could be worth a 100,000 bucks and i still wouldn’t care. They’re not a pair of shoes, they’re children for godsakes. Great question and definitely a effective way to make people question their way of thinking, have to admit i was surprised you were merely 20 but as i personally believe: Older doesn’t necessarily mean wiser, sometimes it means the opposite.

I agree abortion would be psychologically horrible. But I agree I would have to do it in these severe rare cases too.

I'd vote yes... get rid of it. I mean what if it lived. This chick I used to have a crush on had a brother that was just in a bed all retarded and shit. She told me he does nothing... basically brain dead and just shits himself all day. Youngest child... I wonder why the child making stopped. Why the Dad fucking left. But they had that human corpse there in the living room like a piece of furniture. Really depressing shit to see. Tortured everyone in that family to take care of the nothing in the corner of the room. Talk about sad man.

I got fucking depressed just remembering it and writing my memory of it down here. The kid eventually died anyway and all it did was fuck up the entire family's life. Yay... some government money was coming in and nobody had to work, but I bet they were like stuck on a raft without a paddle after that. The kid would look at me, but it was like nothing there going on. Gotta stop thinking about it. Fucking hell.
I'm sorry I reminded you. If it makes you feel any better that child had very little awareness so the child did not know what it is missing. It's horrible for the family too. I'm guessing it caused them going into medical debt?

Nurse here. I work in a hospital that has a world class children's hospital. I have a friend that works in that hospital. I know the cost of a NICU stay. It is a crushing amount. That is just the financial reasoning.
The child will have NO quality of life in any meaning of the phrase. The child's very short existence with be and existence of pure agony, pain, distress, and helplessness. The child will be born into a world only to suffer and be tortured until it's inevitable death.
I would not carry it to full term, and would not expect my partner to do that either.
I agree with you! I evan condisder myself pro life but in these extremly rare cases I agree abortion is the right option. Maybe I shouldn't consider myself pro life then..

I would also like to say that with that type of situation, the mother carrying such a child and wanted to abort the baby could go to a regular hospital and have what they call a "Therapeutic abortion".

I would definitely keep the baby cuz ultrasounds aren't always right about medical issues. Like doctors begged my mom to abort my brother cuz they thought he didn't have kidneys but he really had one and has lived a completely normal life so I just would never trust a ultrasound to be right.

Yes. Because it’s selfish to birth a child into this world knowing it is severely disabled. It’s also selfish to put the child through pain knowing it won’t live long. I personally wouldn’t want a disabled child because they are more expensive as it is over a child with no disabilities. I think it’s selfish to bring a child into this world where it could never be independent and i would be miserable being a caretaker for the rest of my life. So yeah, i would abort it…

In this day and time, personally I wouldn't even consider having a baby if I was your ~ age /+ or minus a few years. I want children but there’s really nothing selfish or wrong with not wanting children, you decide what’s best for you woman. Nothing selfish about it, you simply have things you want and what you don’t want. Any human does it, including the people who call you childish.

I work within the wellfare sector in Denmark & here cost would not be a factor. Quality of life for the child or lack here of would.
Just within 6 months, we've lost 2 children at my work place, a 7 year old and a 16 year old - I honestly think that they're better off now and are finally able to rest. - here I don't mean religiously.

Well i respect you for being able to work like this, i’m generally the “no big feelings, big tough dude” kinda man but when it comes to children my heart melts and i become a very sensitive person very fast. Sorry for what you had to go through, i’m sure they’re at a better place now.

Okay I am refering to cases where the baby will have less than 30% of its brain. Meaning evan if the baby lives it won't be able to move, see, hear, speak etc. :)
I've heard of cases where Dr's said there was a terrible problem and they had the baby anyway... with lots of prayers over time, and turned out ok, healthy baby. I've seen Dr's diagnose using MRIs damaged spines and multiple recommendations for surgery, to find out physical therapy solved the problem.
I've seen too many screw ups with Western medicine to put my weight on what they say.
It's a very personal question between the people involved and that's it, and it's why I think govt should stay out of peoples lives in that regards.
This is one of the extreme cases that i always talk about, yes i'll tell her to abort the baby, even though i'm against abortion!

I agree. 99% of the time I'm against abortion too but in these cases its evil to birth it if you'd ask me. Its a question of to torture or never living.
Very true miss spongebobsocks, it ain't in our hands, we are forced to make such decisions, watching our own baby suffering till death and let him/her die slowly with so much pain makes us less than animals, it won't only affect the baby but will affect the parents too, they will suffer with the baby and the pain of the baby will be there pain too cause this baby is made by them...
We do our best and sometimes we die for our kids to grow healthy and happy, you can't watch your baby suffer from pain and die while feeling nothing...
Sometimes we cry and become sad when we watch a stranger on the news who died, either from a war or accident, how about your own baby!

The baby is getting aborted either way so shrugs so unless that's gonna cause some issues with the abortion I don't know why they feel the need to tell us. And if one did want a baby, welp abort this one go have sex wait for the next one every other animal has multiple kids just for the ones that don't make it really why would be any different well aside from already over population.
I dont know. My nephew was born with a massive heart defect. For religious reasons his parents didn't abort. He underwent multiple bypass surgeries and was given a two month life expectancy.
Im not particularly religious but damn i even prayed for the little guy.
he's a fully functioning 8 year old now.
Obviously even pro-life people like me find extenuating circumstances that warrant termination to prevent suffering. That's completely different than aborting a perfectly healthy baby because a woman wanted consequence free sex without responsibility. Particularly disgusting killing a baby because neither her nor the guy could use any of the numerous birth control methods of contraception and instead justify killing children as a means of birth control.

But making it illegal? It’s someone’s body and a person’s children, what gives anyone the right to judge & impose themselves on a individual like it? I’m European oriented so my thoughts might be radical for American standards, but for Americans always bragging about “Our individual rights” and about how European governments are imposing they sure as hell do it much much worst.

The rest of us because, in reality, "the rest of us" outnumbers "the individual". That's how power works.
However, closer to abortion, the idea is that the government is protecting the unborn.
But, it's a balance.
When we had Roe v. Wade, that balance was basically this:
"If the fetus could not survive outside the womb on its own, then the woman gets to decide. But, the closer that fetus comes to being born as a person, the more the government wants to protect the baby that can't protect itself. After all, the mother had all this time to abort the baby before; she should have done that before then."
That dividing line was at the end of the first trimester - basically, a woman could have an abortion any time in her first 3 months of pregnancy; the fetus would be unviable, but she'd be able to know that she was pregnant by then.
Now, the anti-abortion / "pro-life" people want to move that dividing line to much earlier and that's the big uproar in the USA.
