Men, can you pee and poo at the same time?

I was just learning that some men cannot pee and poo at the exact same time and it's can acutally be a sign of a health issue if they can't like with tight pelvic floor and bladder issues 😳

When old age sets in, problems often set in. I have had urination problems for years now. I have to get up several times at night to pee. I also have to make several trips to the restroom at work.

Although I can pee and poop at the same time, I cannot get out all the urine while sitting. After getting up I have to immediately pee more.

I don't know if the peeing so often is a bladder problem, or possibly something pushing against it. I tried to get my doctor to help me and her answer was it is just a problem men have when getting older. Looking for a new doctor now.

I'm not really old enough to know much about such things, but in some of the stuff I ran into when I needed frequent consultations with and a procedure or two performed by urologists on me, I discovered that benign enlargement of the prostate that often occurs in conjunction with aging can cause weak urinary streams and urinary frequency/urgency because of the pressure on the urethra. Changing stuff you drink obviously has some influence, but there doesn't really seem to be a way to reverse the enlargement (not one that I have heard of, anyway). Surgery can sometimes help, and if that doesn't work there are other things they can try, like injecting or feeding stuff into the bloodstream that makes the blood stop going to the prostate as it usually does, which shrinks the prostate.

If by "can" you are asking about physical ability to do so, I would respond in an affirmative manner. But from a practical viewpoint, doing such wouldn't really work out well. It probably varies based on where you live and what kind of bathroom setup you have. And probably varies from person to person (that is, from one guy to the next). It's just an issue of "logistics", though.

Doing the latter is often a key action that facilities the performance of the former. You have spoken of health problems, and I've certainly had my share of those (particularly regarding the former of the processes mentioned in the question). Anything that helps even a little bit is a good thing. But fortunately those problems are pretty much completely a thing of the past.

It can go either way. Since the bladder and the rectum work with two different sets of sphincter muscles, it can go either way, depending upon the amount of focused control the individual has over those muscles. If there is concern, the individual should visit their MD.
