Yes. I live in Australia and it is in the school curriculum that swimming lessons are taught. I also did surf lifesaving the the bronze medallion course in high school but that is extreme common for Aussies who went to high school here. I am not an amazing nor an insane swimmer but I did compete a bit in my pre-teens. I did a 100M freestyle swim in 110 seconds when I was 12-Years-Old and I was so proud of myself because I actually sucked at every other sport but absolutely dominated the pool. I did unfortunately lose interest in it competitively as I got older but I absolutely still enjoy swimming and snorkelling.
Yes, although I'm not a professional swimmer, I can swim pretty well. Been swimming since I was a toddler. My family has always been beach and pool goers, so I was around it my whole life.
I took actual swimming lessons during elementary school and was on a swim team. I have done some long distance, open water swims. I love water, water is life 💦
I can swim okay, likely long enough to escape a crashed helicopter and get into a life raft.
if no life raft, then will likely have a few mins contemplating life before the waves take me.
For a Brit I'd say you were a bit swimmer than others then lol. Do you folks have mandated swimming lessons over there like us Aussies?
* better swimmer
@Chlo3_2001 yeah it’s a part of national curriculum.

Yeah sounds like here.
@Chlo3_2001 personally first aid should be a mandatory part of it all. It’s not just the swimming, it’s the ability to save a life on land or in the water.
We have that here in Australia. As you progress through the stages and get more advanced you get the opportunity to do your bronze medallion which is what I did when I was about 17
@Chlo3_2001 I mean not just swimming side of it, I mean if someone gets stabbed, dealing with choking, a bad burn, seizure, basic life saving,
This is a good point and I fully agree to should be taught.
I learned when I was a toddler. Probably 3 years old. I used to swim a lot an was a scuba diver for many years.

Everyone should know basic swimming. I'm a very good swimmer.
Yeah. Was always fun to me, and I swam competitively in high school and college
Finally. All I could do was doggy paddle... wasn't enough when I couldn't stay above water one day.
I know how to swim and how to stay afloat for prolonged periods of time.
