I think about it like this. You're paying your therapist to receive help and a gentle push to achieve the things you have in mind for yourself but which you can't achieve by yourself because of your mental blockades, trauma, etc. If you lie and hide the truth, you're wasting your time and money attending therapy.
Not only that, but therapists have very strict policies and can seriously go to jail for sharing information. They have your back, what you tell them isn't going anywhere, and they're there to help you.
I know it can be rough being vulnerable, especially around a stranger, but these people are trained to deal with so many psychological issues and have a handful of other patients all going through hardships.
I saw a comment you made when you said you wouldn't be attending therapy if it weren't paid by your insurance, and I'd like to tell you that if you find the right fit for a therapist, one who is trained is psychotherapy (changing and shifting the way your brain thinks) can truly work wonders, so I suggest you keep pushing :)
Just don't take those appointments if you can't say truth. Think this way and maybe you will feel the urge to spit out the reality.
despite these appointments being confidential , i'd imagine there is still a lot of half truths being said , just from my experiences , i've talked to people before and often virtually impossible to be 100 % open even if you really wanted to. the level of comfort needed to be that open with someone just isn't there after a couple meetings
The problem is I don't always know the answer so I partly true answers.
think it takes multiple meetings before a level of comfort is found and often someone comes in over a crisis which tends to be resolved early on. so often isn't a need for more meetings or a chance to develope a deeper connection , money can also be an issue if you don't have a plan that covers them , so some can't afford to keep going that long
Thank you. Have a great day
You have to recognize that they are getting paid to help you. They won't tell anyone what you told them unless what you said could harm you or others. If they do they could not only lose their license but also go to jail.

You're not paying them for listening to your lies. If you value money, don't lie there.
It's paid by the insurance, wouldn't be there otherwise
Its damn near impossible and is a huge waste of time for both of you, if your just gonna sit there and lie about your problems
You're paying for that!!
Just don’t do it
