While it might not be widely known there are breast milk banks. where lactating mothers who over produce milk or continue to produce milk well after their own children require it. Can go to donate or sell their extra breast milk. So it can be used to benefit others in need.

Nope and nope.

The war in Ukraine and post-Covid have created a vacuum of high costs and low production in many manufacturing sectors.

Baby formula relies on key ingredients and power subsidies that cannot be met by many governments. Most of whom have just realised how reliant they were on Russian fuels and Ukrainian and manufacturing.

As for "milk banks" they are mostly charities and most have had to close dues to covid and money issues. The problem with "craigslist breast milk" is that you have absolutely no medical check on the individual, nor quality check.

They could be giving you cat milk for all you know.

I donated breastmilk to a milk bank and it was certainly screened before handed over to mothers/babies who needed it. Another factor to consider is that many women chose to stay home as full-time mothers or part-time mothers during Covid. One reason I was able to donate is because I was working full-time when all of our children were born (with the exception of my maternity leave) and I just pumped during the day and my overproduction was donated.
