There will be a mild pandemic that is overblown and hyped by the media. They will make a vaccine for it that is really a deadly poison that will wipe out the population. The media will use fear to get the population to take the vaccine. When people start dying from taking the vaccine, the media will blame it on the pandemic and ramp up the fear. They will release more stronger versions of the vaccine as they learn more about how to best kill the population so it will take multiple doses. When humans take the last dose it will become a time bomb. Not only will it kill the humans, it will also change their DNA meaning any surviving will have no future generation.

I think it will be a cascade. Let me explain.

First, global warming will keep causing longer and worsening summers and fire seasons, decimating crops and shortening water reserves and lowering chances for rain.

Next, as a result of famine and lack of water, people will die as a result. People will also kill each other for food and water.

All those dead people, will cause diseases to emerge and wipe out more people, which causes more disease. Also the lack of people will mean fires can't be easily put out, nor can crops be grown and harvested, meaning more people are going to die. So on and so on.

As temperatures rise on the equator, fungi will adapt to human body temperature levels and be able to more easily interact with our bodies. For now most fungi can’t handle our bodies, but they’ll adapt. There’s mushrooms that literally grow next to radioactive waste and get energy from the radiation
