Are you for or against the use of drugs for personal recreation?

in my case I am against it because I grew up with a father who used them, marijuana and cocaine and although he did not use them all and could refrain from using them for up to a week when he stopped using them he became depressed or aggressive and see how they can drugs change a person's life that helped me to see that they are not good even for recreational use because that is how my father began, he used them to distract himself since he was 13 years old and when he realized it was an addiction that he could not leave and today at 60 years old he still consumes them and has even developed paranoia.

I'm neither against or for,
As someone who has studied therapy for nearly 15 years I tend to focus on the root cause not then symptoms.
If a person does drugs recreationally it's their way of medicating themselves away from an underlying issue that if went unchecked, could destroy them. So from that point of view, id prefer to stay compassionate.

I was around in the 80s and I saw plenty of people using every kind of substance imaginable. I never saw any of it do anybody any good. Mostly it was the opposite.

I'm personally against it, but I'm also an ex-addict so I will admit that my own negative experiences color my view on it. I'm not militant about it, I wouldn't shun someone for smoking weed or anything, I just personally wish drugs weren't a thing.
