Can you get hiv from a shallow cut? My cat cut me a few days on my leg, no blood that time. Today I started scratching the area the area without thinking, and it started bleeding a little. Didn't notice it at first, so rubbed it a bit and felt something wet and looked on my finger and saw a bit of blood. Turned out my leg was bleeding a bit. Is there any chance I could have bit blood my hand from someone else, and rubbed it in?

HIV is transmissible through blood, semen, a vaginal fluids. Saliva transmission is possible but extremely unlikely. I believe you’d have to ingest nearly five gallons of an infected person’s saliva. Direct contact from someone’s HIV+ Blood to your blood also doesn’t garuntee you got it. It doesn’t always spread through it’s most transmissible routes either. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be careful. It is very highly unlikely you have it, but feel free to get tested by your doctor. Keep in mind, it may lay dormant in your system for over a decade before it activates. There is a pill that is targeted for promiscious people to make the chance of HIV contraction lower. Speak to your doctor about that.

If you didn't wash your hands is possible, as if (the hands/fingers) haven't been washed then Human (other person's) bacteria, oil's can live/stay under the fingernails for ling time, until cleaned properly.

The HIV virus can enter through any break in then skin. Hopefully you were not exposed. i am not sure if a cat can carry it.
