Has anyone ever died from the use of LSD?

I'm not talking about someone on a bad trip that decides to jump off a roof, etc, I mean, the way they've figured that cigarettes kill you because of what it does to your body over time. Has anyone ever taken acid and eventually died from a specific cause directly tied to the use of LSD.

Every few years, someone overdoses and dies from it. If you mean over time, I don't know if there's data on long-term use (well, I'm sure there IS, but I don't know it), but I wouldn't be surprised if it's similarly harmful- but since you don't have "pack a day" LSD users (assuming it comes in packs) who've been doing that for twenty years, I don't think you'd see similar numbers even if it was equally dangerous.

Yes, over time. Even if you only took it once 60 years ago and died last week, has there been anyone that died from long term ill effects. Like, how my singer was exposed to agent orange in Viet Nam but had no issues with it `til shortly before he died 10 years ago.

There doesn't seem to be much evidence that LSD does any harm to the body or the mind even at higher doses. There have been some studies that show mental illness or psychosis appearing after use of LSD, but it's more likely that LSD increases the risk of mental illness

Well, there HAVE been a few acid casualties: Syd Barrett and, I know of 2 or 3 others but can't recall their names, at the moment.

I have a personal friend that used LSD for a long time. He always took little tiny hits (as he said to control the trip)

After years of doing this, I believe that what made him go insane.

He now lives in a special type of home for the insane.

I have talked with him and his doctors. They said his mind like someone with dementia, but a lot worse.

Basically he is on a permanent acid trip

He is 51 years old and took acid since he was a teenager

Another acid casualty!
It was kinda the same way with Syd. He was living in this house with a bunch of friends who kept dosing him without him knowing it and that's what sent him over the edge.
George Harrison once said that, he decided to look at acid under a microscope and saw what looked like short strands of bull rope and, from that point on, he decided not to put that into his brain, anymore.
