To those here who had covid before, did you lose your taste and smell?

How long did it take you to recover them if so?

I had Covid twice once in the beginning of covid and just recently.

The first time was bad and ended me up in the hospital. I couldn't breathe and Id pass out. It took over 8mos to recover. My lungs took a beating. My sleep pattern was destroyed and major brain fog.

The second wasn't so bad. My main symptom was major asthma attacks but At least I could breathe unlike that last time. I was a bit sleepy but overall I was ok. Recovery was about a week.

Now I must say what both times had in common was a mild fish seaweed or fresh sea air sent. Every time id step outside it was like stepping out to the ocean. Another thing both times had in common was a metallic taste.

So my smell and taste was affected just not lost but altered slightly.

I've had COVID twice. First time was annoying as fuck, I felt like I had a minor cold but couldn't go into work until I had been symptom free for 48 hours. I did have to deal with being constantly tired after recovering. The second time I slept for 2 days and was up and ready.

Hadn't it been for the massive testing due to my job - I probably wouldn't have considered taking a test. I was lucky.

I lost both my sense of taste as well as smell. I did get them back, but it was almost 6 months later. I was actually in the hospital with pneumonia for almost 3 full days. Not meaning to be gross, but I also noticed a difference in my feces for several weeks. I'm in my 60s and I think that was why I had such a difficult time with it.

Just recently recovered from covid, no loss of taste or smell, but my taste was a little off to where food didn't quite taste the same, but only lasted a couple of days then was back to normal, in fact only had 2 days of bad symptoms, then a week of mild-moderate mucus.

I know I'm super late, but I hope you're fully recovered or at least feeling better.

This might sound weird, but I'm not sure if I ever had Covid. I got really sick in March 2020 and all the symptoms I had were Covid symptoms. However, I wasn't tested so I can't be sure. From all the people I know who had it, none of them lost their sense of taste and smell. But it must be strange and uncomfortable.

It was like a bad cold to me, and I typically lose my sense of taste and smell for the duration of a cold, but everything came back after a few days.

I seem to remember having some colds that were worse than Covid though.

My daughter had lost her sense of taste. She also is suffering from anxiety, and I've read that it does cause that later in some people. It has many side affects, none of them pleasant. :(

First time I had covid I lost taste and smell. After it came back everything smelled like burnt plastic a while. Second time it was just a slight cold a week long.

I didn't lose my smell or taste. But I did lose my appetite for the entire day. I only ate a few grapes and a cracker for the whole day. The rest of the day I was busy lying down or taking hot showers to rid myself of the chills.

I have had it twice for sure and probably once in the very beginning, long before testing was available. Something went through the the firehouse, most of the EMTs were sick.

I had a light case, and was not hospitalized, and Hoag Hospital told me to treat it as a 'bad cold". It lasted a month.
