Is it normal for your period to be irregular for 4 years? If not, is it something to be concerned about?

This is getting ridiculous! I haven't had it for 4 months now and the last time I had it it was for 2 days. Then before that it took 2 months, and its just entirely out of whack!

I get it being irregular for the first few months after first getting it, heck even a year, but its been 4 yearrssss. How do I fix it?

I've lost too much clothing cause of being caught by surprise!!!

Is it normal in that is that the way your body and period should be? Sadly, no.

Is it normal in that does that happen to too many women? Unfortunately, yes, a lot.

You said doctors are expensive so I won't give you the first advice that's probably the best advice. You already know it.

One thing that I've heard works for some women is birth control -- it regulates hormones, among other things, and that can have the effect of regularizing your periods.

One thing you didn't mention is whether you're athletic. For a lot of girls, particularly younger ones, heavy athletic training can mess with your periods up to and including they stop all together.

Finally, diet can play a role.

I'm sorry I don't have a better "here, do this, it'll fix the problem" answer.

For her to go on BC would still involve her consulting her Doctor/GP etc.

Of course there are some otc ones, but I most certainly would recommend any of those.

My cousin, never had a period even in her teen years and finally when she got older she went to a doctor and this Endocrinologist put her on Metformin a pill for diabetes, and it helped her period to come around. The thing with Metformin it is a diabetic pill, but it's used for many things. It also helped my cousin to lose weight too. Also, people taking Metformin got to keep track of their blood sugars as well eat a well balanced diet. But I did hear that birth control helps teenage females with their periods too. I think they only use Metformin when women want to get pregnant, but only a doctor can tell you and explain to you. Best Wishes :)

It sounds like PCOS, I went without a period for six months. The treatment for it isn’t bad, it’s usually just birth control to stabilize your cycle and hormones. Do you have other symptoms like hair growth or weight gain? Or maybe even just cramping?

I know a girl who didn't have a period for 8 months. Came to find out she had thyroid cancer. Your thyroid gland regulates a lot of body functions, such as body temperature and your menstrual cycle. This is one time you should see a doctor. Your thyroid level can be out of whack.

Could be a stress or diet problem. A lot of women have irregular periods though, so I doubt it's anything too concerning. Seriously though, I get that doctors can be expensive, but any time you're worried about medical stuff, preventative care is soooooo much cheaper than waiting until something goes wrong.

It could be a number of things at your age, are you underweight? Super athletic? I would strongly suggest seeing a dr, only they can tell you what’s up.

It could possibly be PCOS. See a gyno very soon. But for now I’d suggest you to drink a cinnamon bark + lemon juice + spearmint tea infused water, 1L a day. It’s a natural way to help your body to balance your hormones. It will help to regulate your cycles.
Side note: Avoid dairy, processed food, high carbs intake, sugar, unhealthy snacks.
Eat more protein everyday, don’t forget green veggies too.

You are still young so it's normal for periods to be irregular. If it's still this way in your 20s go to your doc

With it being that irregular, it's best if you do go to the doctor. There are several medical conditions that can cause irregularity, and they may be able to help
