My period is late, there is brown spotting on my panties and I see it when I wipe. What is going on?

I'm really confused. My period is usually like clockwork, but it's been five days late. A week ago, I started having brown discharge when I wiped, and I had a little jelly-like discharge too. I also had some cramping. I started to think I might be pregnant, but I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. I'm wondering if I made myself believe I was, does that prolong the period? I just want my period to come already!

I'm feeling really stressed out about this. I'm not sure what's going on, and I'm worried that something is wrong with me. I've been trying to relax and take it easy, but it's hard. I keep thinking about my period and what could be wrong. Do you think I'm pregnant?

If you're 42 that's something to count in this question, that's the age when period starts changing.

If that's not the case it could be stress, last semester I was going through a lot of stress, and I also thought I was pregnant since I'm like a clock, but no. I as well had my cramps and brown fluid but no period, it was a bit more than a week late but once I calmed down it came back and now it's normal again.

I also found if you drink before your period if could make it a bit late.

I would agree with the age thing. sometimes, they ARE a bit late. I'd suggest a call or visit to a Dr..
