I'm on birth control and take it for 3 weeks before I have a week 'off' when I have my period, then go back to taking it etc. I haven't changed the pill I take and have been taking it since I was 17, so over 10 years now.
In the past 2 cycles, I've had pink spotting before brown discharge.. I'm in the middle of cycle 2 so don't know if this is what's yet to come, but last time I had a really heavy period - I'm usually mid to light flow, but went through 4 ultra tampons and 4 large pads in a day, I'd usually only need 3 super tampons (I use Lilets if that helps) and no pads. Last cycle I was days away from my week 'off' the pill, this time I'm just over 2 weeks in.
I know it's not exactly responsible of me but I don't use any other form of protection with my boyfriend, but we are on a huge trust basis whereby if I'm on my period (for mess sake) or something isn't right - with either of us, we don't have sex.
I'm scared to do a pregnancy test, but just wanted to know if anyone else has had the same and turned out to be pregnant or not? Not really getting a definitive answer online before people telling me to 'just Google it'!

I maybe should have added - my periods are usually like clockwork! So this is the first I've had irregular bleeding!

More likely the new BC is just hormonally delaying it. (And yes I know I'm a dude but I've sat around female friends where I've been stuck at their parties and topics touch base on everything.) I live in a family friend society that is very open with topics.
And from what I know BC's can be all over the place hormonally especially when your first on them.
Whilst I completely respect and appreciate your opinion here - my BC is not new, I've not changed it, I've been on the same one for over 10 years and this has never happened before. I'm not first on them as you have assumed as I've been using them continuously, even when in a sexual drought, since I was 17 and I'm almost 28. I feel you have missed a crucial part of my post by assuming it's a new prescription and that I'm new to using BC..
Well maybe I wasn't specific enough I'm not saying the BC changed but I'm saying your hormonal balance may have changed. Cause one of the strange things that does happen to us as humans is we end up sometimes growing up our bodies hormone balance alters. Its why some grow out of their allergies and others weirdly grow into them. Maybe your just aging not as well and this is just a unfortunate by product of just getting older...
You can definitely get pregnant while on birth control. My sister got pregnant while taking the pill. Your spotting/discharge does not mean anything though. When you take birth control, you no longer have proper menstrual cycles. So it’s extremely common to have spotting or brown “discharge” (which is really just old blood, not discharge) while on the pill.
Mine are like clockwork, so this is unusual for me, hence my concern😔
I see, and you’ve been on it for 10 years and this is the first time it’s started being unusual. I would consult with your family doctor or local sexual health nurse. I wouldn’t jump to conclusions and say it’s definitely pregnancy, since irregular bleeding and spotting is extremely common with the pill - it can start happening at any time. If you’re truly concerned, pregnancy tests are readily available at most supermarkets.
When my sister got pregnant while on the pill, she didn’t experience any spotting. She stopped bleeding altogether because she was pregnant. And she took a pregnancy test as soon as she stopped getting her period and then she stopped taking the pill immediately.
I might go to the shop and do one tomorrow.. I don't know what I want the result to be as I do want children but I'm not ready yet😓
