I don't like them but if I had to pick something I'd say I feel a sense of relief. Hormones can be a lot to deal with. When I'm ovulating I'm super horny and way more social than usual. Then afterwards I start to feel emotional and am more easily upset. Right before it starts I usually feel really irritated, but also craving sex lol... then my period starts and I just feel a sense of relief.

Well , it can get messy , but its the greatest time of the cycle to have sex , the very peck , and period dependent , it can be fantastic , I've never worried about it.
