If you mean on your own yeah it can. Professionally it could too. I am just not sure if anyone does that for that purpose. I have had a few massages in my life and never seen them advertise for that. In general tho yes massaging your abdominal area can reduce cramps. It is going to be temporary. I prefer to use a heating pad if they are especially bad. That does the trick for me and inexpensive solution besides the normal OTC meds that you can take to help out with cramps. Even a hot water bottle on your tummy will help a bit if you don't have a heating pad. Mine aren't so bad these days since I have been on birth control for some time now. I get a couple of heavy days and then symptoms reside and just spotting after that.
It helps, but warm water bottle is best option
