Losing weight from cardio first and them bulk up?

Here was my problem... I needed to loose weight and I'm talking about 70 poounds. I did not lift weights I walked about 15 miles a day and ate vegies and fruits. So here I am 70 pounds lighter but now I need to weight lift and then get into high impact work outs that won't hurt me.
