Is it healthier for the body’s immune system to take herpes medication only during an out break?

Bare with my wording here!

I’ve taken herpes medication since I was 15 years old. Daily suppressive medication because when I don’t take it, it’s aggressively painful and outbreaks are very strong.

But taking the medication daily doesn’t allow my body to build up its own immune system.
I’m wondering if I took the medication less (yes I’d have brutal outbreaks) it would allow my body to build up its immune system to naturally fight it,
That I’d eventually somehow be able to take less medication and the outbreaks would soon be less often.

Lots of folks have Herpes and never really have an outbreak but meanwhile I have it and my outbreaks happen even while I’m on suppressive medication.
